We are pleased to share that Harmony Energy has successfully secured contracts in Poland for two battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 121.68 MW. The main capacity auction for the supply year 2029 concluded in the seventh round, achieving a closing price of PLN 264.90/kW/year. Both BESS projects are at a shovel-ready stage and are located near Poland’s capital, Warsaw. Alex Thornton, COO of Harmony Energy, commented: “The results of the capacity market auction confirm the high quality of our projects and validate our long-term investment plans. Poland is a strategically important market for Harmony Energy, and we view the future of Harmony in Poland with optimism. With the new plant, Tornion Voima will be able to guarantee electricity production during disturbances and varying weather conditions. “The availability of wind and solar power varies by nature and ensuring availability even during cloudy and low-wind weather requires flexible and reliable electricity production capacity. For the time being, we are concentrating on cooperations with local partners and on developing our own greenfield projects. 🌱 Why Poland? With a share of renewable energies of around 27% of total electricity generation (as of 2023), Poland is one of the most attractive European markets for renewable energies. Photovoltaics play an important role here with currently more than 18 GW of installed capacity. Exciting week for Pacific Green following having secured our first capacity market contract in Poland for a 50MW / 200MWh #battery energy storage (#BESS) project at Platerowka with our international JV Partner which we aim to commission in 2028 The T-5 Capacity Market contract cleared at 264.9PLN (€62.14)/kW/year. This secures a revenue stream for the project for 17 years. This contract award is a significant milestone for our team, enabling us to advance our #renewableenergy plans in the rapidly expanding Polish market. METLEN Energy & Metals participated in the High-Level U.S-Greece Roundtable event titled "Strengthening Green Energy Cooperation", which took place at the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace. A delegation from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships attended the event. The discussion centered on enhancing cooperation between the two countries for the green transition and expanding it into the business and academic sectors.
