Africa’s future food systems will be built in Africa’s cities and towns, but two big summits held in the continent recently – the 2024 African Food Systems Forum and the Africa Urban Forum – missed the opportunity to acknowledge the connections between #foodsecurity and urbanisation. Gareth Haysom from the African Centre for Cities , University of Cape Town, and partner with IDS on the Living off-grid food and infrastructure collaboration project, argues that ‘the blinkered views held by the urban, and the #FoodSystem, fraternity, failing to acknowledge the depth of Africa’s urban food systems challenge, mean that the key basics that need to be right, to ensure that Africans are fed, has already been overlooked.’ Read in full 👇 https://lnkd.in/eTEH3Zpx
