On 25 July at 18:30, we invite you to the opening of the new exhibition at M17 CAC (Kyiv city, Ukraine) – Gardens of Dreams. The project explores the imaginary worlds of artists: from human coexistence with artificial intelligence, expanding the horizons of synthetic biology through bioism, the birth of their own models in virtual and real worlds to the Garden of Eden, as a metaphor for the temple of the future, which is being built today and is not solely constructed by humans. The exhibition at M17 brings together works of art by international and Ukrainian artists, including Cao Fei, Refik Anadol, Aljoscha, Anatolу Gankevich, Megumi Ohata, Wolfgang Stiller and Anna Myronova, and will showcase a vision of the future, taking into account the situation in Ukraine and the world. Where will the imagination bring a human being in search of paradise? Which seeds of today will form the garden of tomorrow? Will the dark shadows of the lush beauty of the garden of dreams bring good or evil?   Rapid technological development and the evolution of artificial intelligence call into question whether the human race will retain its superiority. Moreover, the uncertainty shrouds the trajectory of human development and questions their current position, as the starting point of departure to the future. The imperfection of peoples’ physical embodiment is that regardless of being creators like God, they remain dual and helpless to find immortality. Subject to the physical perishability of the body,  they seek eternal life in artificial worlds.   However, unlike advanced artificial forms of existence, it is primordially mankind that is endowed with the ability to dream and behave in an irrational way. Through their aspirations, people invent ways to form alternative realities and act as both creators and destructors in the constant pursuit of the highest good and everlasting life.   In fantasy and imagination, new dimensions are envisaged and born. Despite the utopia of paradise and their own dual nature, mortals, by virtue of their faith, continue searching. Do you recognize the six fungal lifestyles here? This illustration I made will soon be on display in a natural history museum in Germany, introducing the fungi section of the exhibit. It was really a pleasure to work on it, to learn a bit more about fungi, and it will be very exciting when the exhibition is ready and I can go see it in the museum! Gave two public lectures yesterday on ancient Dacia at the Drents Museum in Assen. Summary: "In Ancient History, Dacia is seen as a marginal area: a ‘frontier’ land located at the periphery of the great civilizations of the Classical World, its history usually relegated to a larger narrative of Roman history. In this lecture, we will do differently: we will approach the multi-ethnic ancient region commonly known as Dacia as a cultural, political and economic force of its own, and in addition a crossroads of many cultures. We will discuss the rise and fall of the kingdom of Dacia in the later Hellenistic period from a non-Roman perspective. Using objects in the exhibition, we will look at the connections between the Dacians and surrounding Eurasian cultures."

The show is an exploration of the delicate balance between the vulnerability and strength of our planet in the 21st century. Challenging the conventional binaries that separate concepts of the fragile and the resilient, Sultana proposes that fragility can be a form of strength while encompassing profound vulnerability.
