As of October 2024, 35 states required voters to present identification in order to vote at the polls on Election Day, but many states provide for exceptions to these rules. Of these states, 25 required voters to present identification containing a photograph, with certain exceptions, and 10 states did not explicitly require photo identification. The remaining 15 states did not require voters to present identification in order to vote at the polls on Election Day. https://lnkd.in/eaZnub8Z Party 27 Republicans 23 Democrats The Republican Party picked up one seat in the 2022 elections, in Louisiana. That was the only seat to change parties last year. There are currently no Independent or third party governors in the U.S. https://lnkd.in/eVKrXqrj

We've posted an update to the unofficial elections results on our website at slovote.com/november2024. To date, 128,948 ballots have been tabulated, with about 25,000 left to go. If you or someone you know wonders why it takes weeks to count and certify the results, it boils down to this: More than 120,000 of the ballots already counted were Vote-by-Mail ballots. Each VBM envelope must be scanned and the signature must be compared to the voter's record and verified before the envelope can be opened and the ballot processed. More than 120,000 envelopes scanned and verified by hand, and we're still going. So why does it take longer now? This chart breaks it down in very clear terms: https://lnkd.in/gWfWR4M2. As recently as 2000, for example, absentee (VBM) voting accounted for about 25% of votes cast statewide. Now it accounts for almost 90% of all ballots cast.

The pivotal role of voter turnout in shaping the 2024 election outcome: https://lnkd.in/dtp-6y8t As 29 May approaches, with widespread speculation surrounding the potential performance of political parties in the upcoming national and provincial elections, the pivotal determinant of success rests on getting voters to the polling stations. Those parties with the ability to effectively mobilise their voter base and inspire supporters to cast their ballots may hold an advantage over those that fail to engage their supporters and neglect to prioritise voter turnout initiatives. A low voter turnout scenario – in which only the most committed voters participate – could see between 41% and 43% of registered voters heading to the polls. In a medium turnout scenario, the model indicates that the voter turnout rate may be between 57% and 59%. On the high end, Ipsos’ projections suggest that as many as 74% to 76% of registered voters could cast their ballots if voter enthusiasm reaches its peak.

As we prepare for the big day tomorrow, a shout-out to all my fellow election judges, and a call for others to join us in future elections. Worn out by increased polarization? Working the polls can be a welcome antidote. Pull your focus in locally and get recharged by working with neighbors from across the political spectrum who are all there to ensure a safe and secure election for ALL! Want to see democracy in action? Be part of helping voters exercise this most essential right/responsibility within our self-governing society. Want to understand the safeguards and checks and balances in place to ensure the integrity of our elections? See the care given to chain-of-custody, the necessity of election judges from both parties being present at essential checkpoints, and so much more! While election judges have ONE long day (or a few, in the case of early voting), a special shout-out to all the election officials and staff who put so much care into their work throughout the year to ensure we can all plug in and make Election Day as smooth as possible. 🇮🇳𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐀𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥? You might have heard or seen the term exit polls every time during elections. But what does it mean? Let me tell you. After voting and an 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬, a 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐝 by media persons and they ask them who they voted for along with other factors that they influenced during their voting decision. Now what this does is, this helps us in getting a sense of how the public voted and predict potential election results. And this process is what is known as 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐬. Now, predicting these election results through exit polls is legal, but according to the election rules, 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐬 can only be conducted after voting in every constituency is over. Private agencies and 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 maybe do this by selecting a random sample size, which could range between 𝟐𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟖 𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐡 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. And although they are used to predict election results, exit polls don't give an accurate picture every time. #ExitPolls #VoterAnalysis #ElectionPredictions #PublicOpinion #ElectionResults #PoliticalInsights #ElectionDay #Election2024 Ocean MNC
