⁉️Did you know that during 2020, amidst the #COVID19 crisis, the global tourism sector experienced a 72% reduction, with Europe seeing a 63% decrease? According to data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), 2021 marked the beginning of recovery, with a 20% rebound in Europe and a 4% increase globally. ➡️ This situation highlighted the #tourism sector's vulnerability and its lack of ability to quickly adapt to crises of such magnitude, both in Europe and around the world. In light of this, it's imperative to review and strengthen current strategies, not only to meet immediate recovery needs but also to foster innovation and enhance resilience against future crises. ➡️Adopting a conscious approach and developing strategies that actively contribute to combating climate change is crucial, by creating attractive and sustainable tourist destinations. This involves balancing the influx of visitors in highly interested areas by implementing measures that ensure low environmental impact and generate positive social and economic impacts. 📢In this context, I'm pleased to share that the Cambra de Comerç de Terrassa has joined in the framework of Interreg Euro-MED Programme, the LIBECCIO project, aimed at promoting sustainability in the tourism sector through enhancing cooperation and digital transformation. On March 26th and 27th of March we had the honor of participating in the project's kick-off meeting in Bologna, led by the Regione Emilia-Romagna. 📌 LIBECCIO brings together 10 partners from 7 different countries: Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Montenegro,Slovenia and Spain demonstrating international commitment and collaboration towards more sustainable and resilient tourism. 📌 This project not only signifies a step forward in the sector's recovery but also lays the groundwork for a more sustainable and prepared future in the face of potential challenges. #sustainability #digitaltransformation #tourism

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣: This year we proved that tourism isn't just about destinations – it's about connection, transformation, and empowering communities to write their own stories! 🌍✨ Also I discovered something profound: true tourism development happens when we bring people together, listen deeply, and create spaces for genuine dialogue. Considering my focus, “Highlights” that redefined my understanding of sustainable tourism: 🌀 Leading the Gemlik Tourism Vision Workshop was more than an academic exercise. With over 50 industry representatives and local stakeholders, we reimagined the town's tourism potential. The energy in the room was electric – this wasn't just planning, this was community dreaming out loud! 🌀As Administrative Coordinator for MTCON24, we brought together tourism experts from 50+ countries. My favorite moment? Realizing that our differences are our greatest strength. As I shared in our closing remarks: "Together, we have not only managed tourism across continents but have also forged lasting connections that will continue to inspire us." https://lnkd.in/d6yTWKr9 🌀Presenting at the International Education for Sustainable Development Conference in London became a powerful reminder that academic research isn't about papers – it's about creating real-world impact. https://lnkd.in/dDTyGbxk 🌀My keynote at the International Conference on Occupational Health & Safety wasn't just a speech – it was a call to action for integrating sustainability into every aspect of our work. https://lnkd.in/dUGz2pss Looking ahead to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣, I'm more convinced than ever: sustainable tourism is about human connection. It's about seeing each destination not as a place to visit, but as a living, breathing community with stories waiting to be heard. 🇹🇷🌎 To my incredible network – thank you for being part of this extraordinary journey of discovery, collaboration, and hope🪩🎄 #LinkedInRewind #wrapped
