Tantivy Pump Station Upgrade - Manifold Lift
🎉 Our Water team in south-east Queensland have delivered another exciting milestone for Tantivy Pump Station! 🏡 Downer and WSP in Australia, in partnership with Urban Utilities, are completing major upgrades to the Tantivy Street Pump Station, a key part of the Ipswich wastewater backbone. Following the 2022 floods, these upgrades are crucial for existing customers and for the growing community. The team have recently installed a critical piece to the puzzle - our shiny new, stainless-steel manifold. 🔨The manifold, fabricated and welded by #Munster, ties the entire project together by acting as a conduit to direct the wastewater to the rising main to then be later discharged at the Bundamba Resource Recovery Centre. ⛓Lifting the manifold into position was a high-risk activity and required a collaborative approach between Christophers Contracting Group, Downer Utilities and Borgers Cranes to ensure the success of the lift and the safety of the crew involved. This milestone is a testament to the hard work of our team and marks a pivotal moment in the Tantivy Street Pump Station upgrades. We look forward to completing this important infrastructure for the Ipswich community.

🌊 A throwback to the Vartry Water Supply Scheme, a remarkable engineering achievement that continues to serve as a lifeline for over 200,000 people in north Wicklow and South Dublin. Originally developed in the 1860s, this historic scheme transformed sanitation in Dublin City, significantly reducing the risk of diseases caused by contaminated water. The original structure features two reservoirs, a water treatment plant, and a four-kilometre tunnel, all built by hand with basic tools. Fast forward to recent developments: Uisce Éireann invested €150 million to upgrade the scheme, ensuring compliance with EU water quality standards. The completion of a new pipeline from Vartry to Callowhill in 2018 replaced a vulnerable rock-lined tunnel, reinforcing the water supply for generations to come. Our highly skilled teams from Specialist Engineering and Monitoring, provided vibration monitoring solutions to support the upgrade works. Curious to learn more about this project? Check out the full case study with the link in our comments! #EnvironmentalMonitoring #VartryWaterSupply #Infrastructure #Ireland #Dublin #Wicklow

A really interesting development by Marsh Industries Ltd to help support merchants and their customers, covered in the latest edition of Professional Builders Merchant. Within the article, their Managing Director Steve Boyer sets out how the launch of it's ENCO product delivers a BS EN 12566-3 compliant solution for merchant customers (which is suitable for a wide range of applications aswell as allowing easy installation on site, due to its compact size) yet also supports merchants by allowing them to "offer remarkably competitive pricing". What's interesting, is how Marsh Industries Ltd not only seek to provide this continued product development and innovation but also offer a true "partnership" to the merchants they work with to help them to grow. This support is evidenced by their product training for both merchants and their customers (with product technical libraries, "Tea break training" and "Trade talks") through to their supportive and responsive approach to creating timely and customer friendly quotes for merchants and their customers, and explains why they have been recognised in the shortlist for the Builders Merchants Federation Ltd's 2023 Supplier Member Engagement Award. A great product innovation, and an example of how an innovative and successful customer centric supplier partner can truly support both merchants and their customers to grow their businesses in the current climate. #productinnovation, #wastewatertreatment

Sure, it’s no theme park but this week gases will ride 💨 Our Central Interceptor crews are installing the final giant white pipes onto a yellow steel frame that make up a new air treatment filter plant. We’re a fan ‘cos the 100kg per metre fibreglass pipes will connect to giant header fans that draw harmful gases from the Central Interceptor tunnel and send them to an odour treatment bed where natural microorganisms will break them down. This is the project’s largest air treatment facility. In fact, our team has just finished installing its mate at our May Road site in Mt Roskill, halfway along the 16.2-kilometre tunnel route. So, why are they doing this? 👉 The pressure in the tunnel will change constantly depending on the volume of combined wastewater and stormwater flowing through it, so this will help keep things on an even keel, while pump stations dotted along the tunnel route will also do their bit to remove gases. While the new air filter treatment plant may not be a theme park, we’d queue for a peek at this mahi 👀 For more on the project to build New Zealand's largest bored wastewater tunnel 👉 https://lnkd.in/gaRqgq6i Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture (GAJV) #CentralInterceptor #projects #wastewater #stormwater #tunnelling #tunneling #tunnels #underground #OnTheTools #infrastructure #construction #Teamwork #team #mahi #Auckland
