I appreciated the energizing session during last Saturday's Empowerment for Change program with cohort 2 at Mbasiafo and i would love to share my experience 😊
I gained valuable advice from Rosemary Agyeiwah Great-Damzi, ACCA regarding choosing a career path.
One significant lesson I took from her presentation is that blending passion and realism is crucial when selecting a career path and also utilizing your strengths, talents, and skills to identify areas of excellence.
When deciding on a career path, young people often fall into traps such as conforming to trends or yielding to peer pressure, favoring immediate benefits over long-term objectives, avoiding risks and chances for personal growth, and neglecting the value of workshops and mentorship.
To address the challenges mentioned, it's essential to encourage critical thinking and self-reflection among young individuals. Providing mentorship programs, workshops, and resources that emphasize long-term planning and risk-taking can help them make more informed career decisions. Additionally, fostering a supportive environment that values individual strengths and passions over societal expectations can empower young people to pursue fulfilling career paths.
I'm motivated and open to seizing fresh opportunities

My experience on a journey to IISMA Universiti Malaya 🌏
"The present isn't everything, but there are things you can only do now, things that you can only find here. It's now or never" This quote kept me trying to do new things and become awardee of IISMA which is excited!
One of my dream to study aboard is about to get real when I passed Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards which was held by Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia).
The process of course was challanging, yet it is rewarding and more to come! It is all thanks to my parents and my friends who supporting me this far. There are lot of hard times during the process but without them, I may not able to reach this point. Making me learn some of important point which is:
1. Don't think much about your first impression! Everyone impression toward you is renewed everyday. As you spend time with them more and grow with them, you come to understand more.
2. Ask help when you don't understand anything. There's a lot prespective that you may don't understand, but that's okay because everyone has diferent prespective. Ask someone whe you have a difficult time on something and it will give you a wide prespective on it.
3. Just wing it! That's how I say it. It wouldn't hurt if you try, there are lot chances if you fail. But if you sucess, then keep the beat and let it flow, trust the process and it will be fun at the end.
4. And the last is process is everything. I am really excited to be awardee of IISMA and its really valuable for me because the alot of efforts I put to become awardee. If wishes could be granted and desires can be fulfilled, I won't wish nor desire for anything. The thing you wished served on silver platter were never geniune after all because you never work hard for it. That's why I will always keep searching for it.
Huge thanks to my AC mentor, Achmad Abdillah Pasha, for guiding me through pre-departure, who is also one of alumni of IISMA UM.

🌟💬 Thank you for sharing this, Meera. It's deeply moving to reflect on the journey and ongoing struggle for racial equity in leadership across the public sector and the long road that still plays ahead.
The initiative that you, Rosemary Campbell-Stephens, and Patrick Scott embarked on over a decade ago has created a vital space for Black and Asian leadership development. Sustained support is essential for long-term change and it’s disheartening to see some councils still refusing to fund BALI places, showing a clear gap between acknowledging the problem and actively investing in solutions.
The data speaks volumes: Global Majority aspiring leaders face systemic barriers at every turn—from appointments to leadership roles, to facing higher rates of grievances and dismissals. The public sector, including Social Care, Education, the NHS, Policing, Judiciary, and the Civil Service, must come together to address these inequities.
In a recent conversation with Rachel Farnham we were speaking about the extensive work Durham undertaking to lead on anti-racist social work practice. This was also a focus at the ADCS conference.
The conversations are happening in a way I haven’t witnessed previously and that felt exciting! However, Diversity needs at seat at the policy making table and we need the pathways like BALI in place to support and empower this. 🤝 #PublicSectorDiversity#EmpowerLeadership#JoinTheConversation 💬✨

Fabulous & many congratulations Hetvi Parekh & I believe you have a very promising career ahead of you. Thank you too, to the giants whose shoulders we stand, like Meera Kaur. We need to build on the alumnus of BALI across the region and i was delighted to see that it was recognised in our ILACS report published yesterday
