“63 % of the companies say that science-based targets drive innovation.” We are attending one of the biggest sustainability events in the Nordics and Baltics, Impact Day in Tallinn. There has been a bunch of interesting cases, and here are few thoughts that we would like share from the first day. 🔹Leader has to have a point of view about the future. Even if it’s not understandable to others at first sight. It’s leader’s job to convince others to get along! 🔹Because there should not be a separate sustainability strategy, sustainability should be also included into management system. 🔹Sustainability reporting or any other part of sustainability work should all be interconnected and based on company’s purpose and values. 🔹Profitable and sustainable business are not opposite sides of a coin. 🔹Activating people into small actions, such as planting trees or activities for the community, can eventually lead people to be interested in innovating new ways to become part of the bigger transition. What did sustainability professionals in Oslo do yesterday? They attended the yearly summit of Sustainability Hub Norway (S-HUB). So did we and took a temp check to hear what people think of the event and the topic of sustainability in 2024. The room was filled with optimism and a sense of urgency rarely experienced at mainstream events. RADICAL FUTURES. COLLAPSE. TRANSFORMATION. It was great to see the focus on such themes. The willingness to embrace radical futures and transform all value chains and so the entire global economy to meet the urgency and the scale of the climate crisis can not be a fringe, radical sentiment anymore. SETU has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GreentechHQ, Ireland’s first Sustainability Innovation Hub, supporting both organisations' commitment to sustainability, innovation, business, and community engagement. The MoU was signed by SETU President, Professor Veronica Campbell and Ed Murphy, GreenTech HQ CEO and Founder, at SETU’s Cork Road Campus on Tuesday, 24 September. The MoU will focus on advancing joint sustainability objectives through shared expertise, networks, and resources, with a commitment to addressing the challenges and opportunities of sustainable regional development and supporting the green transition. The partnership is centred on the vision of ‘Connecting for Impact’, with a focus on areas including research and innovation in sustainable technologies, skills development, and supporting enterprise with the challenges of sustainability transformation.
