Banks, of course, should have a lot of cash and diversified investment portfolios to leverage economic strength. In medical research, there’s a different kind of bank called a #biobank, and it thrives by receiving DNA specimens from patients who volunteer to participate by providing a vial of blood. The more samples that are received, the better the opportunity for researchers to discover advanced, personalized treatment options. The Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, a partnership between UCHealth and University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, has now invited patients from UCHealth Parkview to take part in the program. The trial also showed significant increases in wildtype HTT levels versus placebo. 🔬👏 Wave Life Sciences is hiring for a Manager/Sr. Manager, Medical Communications (Lexington, MA) https://lnkd.in/eGVsNEsm #Biotech #HuntingtonsDisease #Research #Healthcare

Honored to present at the excellent annual #IEPS meeting yesterday. Reflecting on 199 years since the first documented description of human "Foie Gras" in a French anatomy book (1825) - interestingly, associated with tuberculosis - the pandemic du jour of early 19th century - to today's #MASLD, and what a remarkable year it's been in this field. Even when limiting our scope to hormone-receptor based interventions, we face fascinating questions: the overwhelming metabolic impact of gut peptides, intrahepatic pathways despite absent parenchymal receptors, the degree of synergism in multiple receptor coagonists, and whether remarkable weight effects translate to tangible liver health endpoints. It's truly an exciting time as we approach meaningful clinical impact. And yes - couldn't resist using my final slide to share that we're recruiting! My lab is seeking a researcher and technician for innovative projects in mouse-derived liver organoids. #LiverResearch #MASLD #Organoids

🎉 Proud to Announce Our Latest Publication in Cureus Journal of Medical Science! 🎉 I am thrilled to share our newest article: "A1 Phenotype: A Shadow Behind Pulmonary Embolism", recently published in Cureus. This work marks a significant milestone in our research on venous thromboembolic disease in the Colombian Caribbean. We have identified the A1 phenotype as a key risk factor for the development of pulmonary embolism (PE), along with elevated levels of coagulation factor VIII. 🔬 What makes this study unique? For the first time, the relationship between the A1 phenotype and PE risk is explored in a Colombian population. Our findings suggest the need for more detailed and personalized evaluations in patients at risk for PE. This study could pave the way for new strategies in the prevention and treatment of this serious condition. I deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of my co-authors and collaborators who made this project possible. 📖 I invite you to read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g8SYegXW This is just the beginning of future research that we hope will continue to contribute to the understanding and management of pulmonary embolism. #Research #PublicHealth #Medicine #Hematology #Thromboembolism #A1Phenotype #ScientificPublication
