People affected by proposed NHS changes will have a chance to comment, and 5. Existing services will not be withdrawn until new, better services are available. This man made a major contribution to the Chaos and System Failure of the "Modernised" Corporate NHS. To ask such a Kakistocrat to unpick the NHS is hardly an endorsement of a Labour Government determined to pursue a System of Proven Corporate Healthcare Failure. All attempts to run Essential Public Services as Businesses have failed and will continue to fail, because the Business Model doesn't Work. They highlighted new research showing that the average Whole Time Equivalent GP is now responsible for 2,300 patients! 😲👩⚕️👨⚕️ It's no secret that primary care has been systematically defunded over the past decade. It shouldn't have taken Lord Darzi's recent review to confirm what we've all known: the NHS is broken. 💔🏥 As we brace for a challenging winter ❄️🌬️, it's important to recognise that the efficiencies in primary care have already been maximized. We're already lean and highly efficient! 💪✨ In fact, primary care is the most efficient part of the NHS and never goes into deficit (unlike most of the rest of the NHS). 📊✅ Did you know? 💡 Research last year showed that for every £1 invested in community or primary care, there's up to a £14 return back into the local economy through gross value added (GVA)! 💷➡️📈 That's an incredible return on investment! 🚀 Primary care performs over 90% of the activity in the NHS on approximately 6% of the NHS budget. 🤯🩺 Our GP surgeries are working harder than ever with less and less resources. 🏃♀️🏃♂️Rt. The upcoming budget announcement reveals a substantial new investment aimed at addressing the NHS’s backlog and improving service capacity. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to announce a package that includes £1.5 billion for establishing new surgical hubs and procuring essential scanners, along with £70 million for upgrading radiotherapy machines. This funding is anticipated to enable around two million additional NHS appointments annually. Furthermore, an additional £1.8 billion is allocated to support elective procedures since July, with the aim of reducing long waiting times. However, both Reeves and Health Secretary Wes Streeting have acknowledged the limits of this funding. Streeting has noted that, given the NHS’s challenges, this budget alone won’t be enough to prevent issues like patients waiting in corridors during peak winter demand. Despite these challenges, Reeves framed the investment as a step towards reversing what she described as years of “neglect and underinvestment” and highlighted the NHS as a core component of Britain’s social infrastructure. This budget, expected to be delivered on Wednesday, is part of broader efforts to bolster the NHS amid rising pressures on healthcare services.

How can lived experience drive NHS innovation in 2025? Let me explain... Recently, I had the privilege of speaking at a key 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 which hosted the majority of ICBs in the North, including the second-largest ICB in the UK. This opportunity allowed me to share both my personal journey as a parent of a life-limited child and my professional insights as a business owner. Representing both parents navigating the complexities of Personal Health Budgets (PHBs) and the solutions I’ve developed to bridge gaps in care delivery, I highlighted the transformational power of PHBs when implemented effectively. While the journey hasn’t been without its challenges, the positive impact on my son’s quality of life and our family as a whole has been immeasurable. This meeting wasn’t just about sharing experiences—it was about influencing change. By addressing the good, the bad, and the solutions, I aimed to: 🔷Equip healthcare professionals with insights to improve PHB processes. 🔷Show how parents can be empowered to take control of care packages for better outcomes. 🔷Demonstrate how businesses like Thrive can support parents and the NHS by improving efficiencies and delivering tangible results. 💡Why This Matters: When done right, PHBs offer families flexibility, control, and ultimately, dignity in managing their child’s care. For the NHS, this approach isn’t just family-centred—it’s cost-effective and sustainable. It’s time for the second instalment of our ICYMI: Healthcare series, where we provide you with a run-down on some of the top stories in the space over the past week 🏥   📉NHS satisfaction has fallen to a record low, at just 24% in 2023, with waiting times and staff shortages remaining the top concerns. The British Social Attitudes survey, running since 1983, shows a 5% drop from last year and a significant decrease from the 2010 high of 70%.   🫘🐖A 62-year-old man is on the mend after receiving a groundbreaking kidney transplant from a genetically modified pig. The four-hour surgery "marks a major milestone in the quest to provide more readily available organs to patients", Massachusetts General Hospital said in a statement.   🌭Comedian Ed Gamble was forced to remove a picture of a hotdog from posters promoting his forthcoming show on the tube network because it breached Transport for London’s junk food advertising policy.   And what does this all tell us? Fundamentally this week’s stories highlight the complexities of attempting to reform both the healthcare system and improve wellbeing in wider society.
