📊 Our study published in the Journal of Public Health International delves into the quality of maternal and newborn health indicators in Rwanda's Western Province. 🌍 🔍 Key Findings: Only 40% of countries have adequate systems for birth and death data. Rwanda's maternal health data tends to be over-reported. Insufficient quality detected in one out of four maternal and newborn health indicators. Lack of data validation meetings and incomplete reporting tools contribute to data quality issues. 👩🔬 Implications: Monthly data validation meetings chaired by healthcare leaders are crucial for high-quality data. Supportive supervisions in data quality and management are essential for improvement. 📰 Check out the full article for deeper insights: https://lnkd.in/gWmA2SJh #PublicHealth #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth #DataQuality #Rwanda #ResearchArticle

I recently attended a webinar focusing on leveraging routine health facility data to monitor and estimate maternal and child health indicators in Uganda. Key takeaways include: - Routine health facility data allows for estimating maternal and child health coverage between scheduled demographic surveys. - Prioritizing data quality assessment, particularly when computing denominators, is crucial. - Ensuring completeness and consistency in reporting is vital for accurate computation of numerators. The next steps may involve capacity building at the district level, which is essential to enhance data quality. #CountDown2030 #APHRC

In this commentary, we discussed strategies to “Enhance Effective Delivery of Quality Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Services”. Reproductive health education (RHE) is central to the health and well-being of adolescents and young people. Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) education should not be denied to adolescents. It should be made available and accessible for all. Enhancing adolescent health literacy involves strategies that ensure young people can effectively understand and use health information, including SRH information. Three approaches can be followed to enhance and ensure the effective delivery of quality adolescent SRH services: 1. Enhancing adolescents’ health literacy. 2. Making SRH services accessible, acceptable, and appropriate to adolescents. 3. Engaging in meaningful adolescent and community participation. Read the full commentary here: https://lnkd.in/dJVyBK4s
