🌱 Do governments view nature-based solutions as optional extras or as a necessity? The Wildlife Trusts' Kathryn Brown makes a good point in this story by Cecilia Keating 👇 : "Nature-based solutions are now nature-based necessities, and we must all embrace the role that nature can play in enabling landscapes to adapt." It got me reflecting on the language we use. The term "solutions" may unintentionally suggest that these measures are optional rather than essential components for our survival. The NBS term will continue to be embedded into global political discussions and climate action, and we must avoid confusing the discussions by altering established terms. But using language that conveys the urgency and the imperative need to prioritise nature is so important. #naturebasedsolutions #NBS #climateaction
