Switzerland and Norway’s respective governments have signed a Declaration of Intent, which has been designed to strengthen the two countries cooperation over CCS and carbon dioxide removal. Both of these countries have shown large ambition when it comes to climate and energy policies and meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. It has already been stated that in order for Europe and the world to reach their climate targets, a lot of climate measures are required and this includes CCS and CDR. The article below discusses the importance of CCS and CDR to both countries, who have made it clear through this agreement that this is one of their priorities. 🎯 To achieve the EU’s 2040 climate target, it will be necessary to capture approximately 280 million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2040. Yet, given the current rate of progress, it will be very hard to meet this target. Despite some Member States leading the way to develop CCS projects in the EU, more than two thirds of all countries do not have a clear CCS strategy set into place, nor adequate funding mechanisms to bolster this technology. CCS Europe urges Commissioners to talk to national ministers about the need for industrial decarbonisation and the huge business opportunities that CCS investments will create for industries. 👇 Read our full statement below!

New CCS partnership to connect ports, pipelines and platforms 🚢   CCS is a bridge to the climate solutions of the future. And Denmark's underground is an ideal place to store captured CO₂. But if we are to reduce emissions and achieve the Danish and global climate goals, it is crucial that an infrastructure is developed to transport the CO₂ to storage sites on the necessary scale. Therefore, TotalEnergies, ADP - Associated Danish Ports A/S and Evida have today shook hands to investigate the possibility of developing solutions that can transport captured CO₂ via pipeline out to the storage sites in the North Sea - with the Port of Fredericia and Taulov Dry Port as important transit points.   This is important for the green transition – and for Denmark's position as a future European CCS hub 💪 Read more about the partnership here: https://lnkd.in/dcZ8cY4w
