With 401 votes, Ursula von der Leyen is reconfirmed as President of the European Commission. What does it mean for Europe's heat pump sector? Mélanie Auvray, Policy Manager at the European Heat Pump Association: "We congratulate EU Commission president von der Leyen on her re-election and support her aim to boost clean tech and low-carbon technologies. The heat pump sector is already a leading net zero player with over 200 manufacturing sites in Europe, but with recent sales dropping, policy support must be strengthened. 🏤 The #EUCommission is gathering opinions on what the definition of a Fossil Boiler should be. They are bound to issue a guidance document stemming from the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, since this piece of legislation explicitly prohibits member States to fund these boilers from 2025. ✍ Since Member States have already started drafting their 2025 budget law, the issue is urgent. 💶 You might think it's a minor one. Imagine the breadth and depth of economic impact if the £22 billion of investment in carbon capture recently announced by our new government was channeled into high temperature heat pumps?
