✨ Capturing life in motion against the stunning backdrop of architecture has always been a passion of mine. During my visit to the Oslo Opera House, I experienced this interplay between light, shadow, and human connection like never before. As I wandered across the expansive marble plaza, I was struck by how the building invites interaction—encouraging visitors to walk, sit, and reflect on their surroundings. I found myself constantly looking for new perspectives, as each angle told a different story. I was particularly moved by the surreal reflections on the glass surfaces, which blurred the lines between reality and reflection. It made me realize that great architecture doesn't just create a physical space; it creates a platform for shared experiences. Similar to my memories at the Sydney Opera House, both spaces evoke awe yet invite unique forms of engagement with the community. This beautiful exchange of art, architecture, and life enriches our everyday experiences. Hotel & ship #art is easily one of my absolute favorite things about #hotellife. If you stop and pay attention, you might be pleasantly surprised… 💡 Hotels & ships often collaborate with local #artists. This can showcase local culture, or it can be a really cool glimpse into the area's local art scene. 💡 Many luxury hotels & ships invest A LOT of money into acquiring original artwork. They sometimes even commission renowned artists to create exclusive pieces for their properties. 💡 Hotel & ship art can range from traditional paintings and sculptures to installations and multimedia displays. Keep those eyes open! 💡 Discovering art as you move from public to private spaces feels like a treasure hunt. 📸 I loved the art in my room at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dublin City 💡 Some hotels even offer art tours or programs for guests. A favorite of mine is “The Current” Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Gallery and Art Center. ❓Is there a specific piece of hotel or ship art that stands out in your memory? Disaster or Success? The Sydney Opera House is considered one of the great masterpieces of modern architecture and an iconic symbol of Australia. However, its realization was marked by numerous problems and controversies, leading to debates on whether to consider it a success or a disaster from a project standpoint. Success: Iconic Architecture: The Sydney Opera House is recognized worldwide for its innovative and bold architecture. Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, its silhouette has become a symbol not just of the city of Sydney but of all of Australia. Awards: The building has received numerous international accolades for its design and engineering innovation, including the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize awarded to Utzon in 2003. Tourist Attraction: Over the years, it has become one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, contributing significantly to the local economy. Disaster: Construction Costs and Timelines: The project experienced huge cost overruns and delays in construction. Initially expected to cost 7 million Australian dollars and to be completed in four years, it ultimately exceeded 100 million dollars and took 14 years to complete (1959-1973). Conflicts and Resignations: The relationship between Jørn Utzon and the New South Wales government deteriorated due to disagreements over design and construction costs, leading to Utzon's controversial resignation in 1966 before the completion of the building. Functional Problems: Despite its extraordinary visual impact, the Opera House faced criticism for some functional and acoustic aspects of its concert halls, which have required modifications and updates over the years. Conclusion The Sydney Opera House can be seen both as a success and a disaster. Although the project faced significant financial challenges, delays, and controversies, the end result is a world-renowned architectural work that has had a profound cultural, social, and economic impact on Sydney and Australia. Its story is an example of how challenges and difficulties encountered in the realization of ambitious projects can ultimately contribute to creating works of invaluable worth. According to PMI and IPMA criteria, the Sydney Opera House presents a complex case. On one hand, the project did not meet cost management and timing criteria. On the other, it achieved exceptional success in terms of the quality of the final outcome, cultural impact, and long-term stakeholder satisfaction. Therefore, while presenting characteristics of failure in its execution, the Sydney Opera House managed to transform into a lasting success, reaffirming the importance of evaluating the success of a project not only based on the process but also on the impact and value generated over time. #SuccessBeyondObstacles

Visiting art galleries has become a part of my work. Art spaces have long been an inspiration.... I find visiting #FrancisBacon's art studio; now in a Dublin Art Gallery very moving. Firstly because of the creative chaos in which he worked, and secondly because of the vision the gallery curator had to transfer the whole studio, in precise detail, from London and re-construct it in the #HughLaneGallery. Francis Bacon describes the external mess in the studio as a representation of his internal mind and his life. What is your office/workspace like? Is it a creative mess which inspires you, or perhaps oppresses you. Is a tidy, organised and disciplined space? Do you have art in the space? Do you have plants or pets? Or is your space clinically clean? Do you work in a shared office which suits your inner needs, that inspires you, or perhaps the opposite? Does your workspace mirror your inner life, as it does for Bacon? The spaces we inhabit, the milieu's and contexts we create for ourselves say a lot about us. What does your workplace environment say about you? #art #artgallery #creativity

The relationship between high art and noteworthy buildings is as old as civilization itself: think of the celebrated sculptures that once adorned the exterior of the Parthenon in Athens, or Michelangelo’s magnificent ceiling frescoes for the Sistine Chapel in Rome. And when it comes to residential properties, nothing enhances an extraordinary home like a carefully crafted art collection. As with real estate, the fine art market experiences ups and downs. Education is key to understanding the market, and there are now more resources than ever before to judge its value. But regardless of its investment potential, great art has an uncanny ability to elevate a home—and add immeasurable pleasure to the lives of its occupants. • • • #artcollector #homedecor #artcollector #sothebysrealty #luxuryliving #karelbutz Source: Sotheby’s Mid-Year Luxury Outlook Report 2024
