It was very insightful session about new normal in Ocean freight that is “Uncertainty is certain” and how this industry is evolving to adopt new approaches - Collaboration, Open Communication and partnership - New contracting frame work - uses of technologies - Diversification of sourcing strategies - Shift to Regionalisation - Proactive in Risk Management - Logistics resilience is a priority Thanks to Mr Pavitharan, the panel was excellently moderated and members shared very insightful viewpoints. Kudos to organisers IICS, it’s was very well organised, and I could see lot of active participation and lot of foot falls interacting with various shipping companies, freight forwarder, transporter and logistics tech companies.

The Session “Manufacturing: Embracing Advancements with Technology and Fostering Innovation" at the CII India Mediterranean Business Conclave 2024, focused on facilitating the manufacturing sectors of India and Mediterranean countries. The importance of steel and EV industries, with a focus on its sustainable expansion was emphasized for boosting manufacturing. The importance of Industrial Internet of Things, cloud platforms, and big data analytics in enhancing the sector were also highlighted. Greater regulatory harmonisation, lowering of trade barriers, better logistical infrastructure, continuous upgradation of skills, among others, were some key suggestions for boosting the manufacturing sector. Vishal Murgudkar, India Sourcing Leader, opened the event for 200+ suppliers from diverse industries, highlighting India's remarkable sourcing reach. There has been a 44% increase in the volume sourced from India in the last two years, with projections indicating a substantial 2x growth by 2025, based on high competitiveness and technical excellence of the suppliers. As India progresses towards becoming one of the world's top three economies, there is immense growth potential. The dedicated sourcing team and committed suppliers aim to leverage this potential by collaborating not only within India but also globally to provide top-notch services and products.   During the conference, our leaders presented Baker Hughes' growth trajectory and future vision, inviting suppliers to be part of this exciting journey. Additionally, attendees were shared a video message from Jim Apostolides, SVP, Enterprise Operational Excellence, who expressed his confidence in India's potential and emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships to achieve mutual goals.
