💡 When it comes to tackling territorial challenges and implementing place-based solutions, experimenting is key. And this is exactly what the Innovative Sustainable Economy Mission aims to do. Committing to work on a number of tools such as Transformative Innovatation Policy Labs. Virtual spaces to align local, regional, national and MED priorities and stakeholders efforts to promote #sustainabledevelopment in the Mediterranean region. On the last day of our #innovationcamp, participants began to familiarise themselves with this concept and think about their desired #TIPLs. People from different countries and backgrounds participated in the hands-on sessions with genuine curiosity. And although it was a bit difficult at first to identify the skills, tools and capacities needed, as they had never been involved in such an exercise before, we had rich discussions and the results were remarkable 👇 Many ideas came up. From the importance of involving the right stakeholders, with facilitators to help them find the right direction. To the need to identify where these processes can add value and create common ground so that TIPLs can be spaces for dialogue and constructive exchange. To the extent of suggesting the combination of a diverse mix of tools such as analysis, peer reviews, study visits, capitalisation of previous results. And much more. It was also interesting the request to devote other spaces to this topic, such as Innovation Camps, which confirmed to us that the open discussions we had during the two days really impressed participants. And even though TIPLs do not yet exist, some of them were already talking about how they could become autonomous mechanisms after the end of the project 🔝 It will certainly take some time to organise all the interesting and stimulating ideas we gathered. For the time being, we are back home full of energy and enthusiasm 🎇 Thank you all so much! 🍃🍃Last week we had a particularly interesting session in which Julia Rawlins (ICLEI Europe), Maria João Rodrigues, Elena Simion (Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding - UEFISCDI) and Tarek El Azzouzi talked about climate platforms, their strategy and services, as well as the collaboration between different countries at the European level. Here are some of the ideas that were raised: 🎙️Maria João Rodrigues: “The mission call was a surprise for everyone. Although everything is happening at different speeds in different parts of Europe, different experiences, formats and approaches can be shared. There is room for some standardisation and even some support that is uniform for all these platforms. There is room for organisation and the European Commission should play an important role in this”. 🎙️Tarek El Azzouzi: I think that having a joint vision is absolutely necessary to work in the same direction and avoid parallel discussions. It is important to create that space for collaboration and debate is very welcome. 🎙️Julia Rawlins: It is essential to be flexible and adapt to the environment. The context is very different between member states, cities are of different sizes and geographical areas vary a lot. Our aim is to maintain multi-level governance and to work at the same time in all sectors. 🎙️ Elena Simion: At the moment, our main target is the national authorities. However, I know that in some countries they are already working with the private sector, holding some kind of town hall meetings. And they have the additional support of the net zero cities, who will act as an official platform and work with us in all capacities to move the dialogue forward. Thank you very much to all of them for participating in this inspiring session. #Startups #UPM #growth #sustainability #investment #cleantech #cleancities #smartcities ClimAccelerator Climate-KIC EIT Climate-KIC Spain Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

We are thrilled to announce that Victor Cobos, our CMO at Orbyn Group, will once again be a keynote speaker at the "Meet the Blue Investors" panel during the "Blue Zone Forum – Innovazul 2024", taking place in Cádiz, Spain, and promoted by INCUBAZUL CÁDIZ. This premier event brings together leading voices from the #BlueEconomy—spanning governments, institutions, organizations, and pioneering companies like ours—all united by a shared vision: fostering #innovation, #sustainability, and growth in this vital sector. Why does the Blue Economy matter? 1️⃣ Economic Growth and Job Creation The Blue Economy encompasses industries like sustainable fisheries, renewable ocean energy, tourism, aquaculture, and marine biotechnology. With its potential to double in size by 2030—reaching $3 trillion annually—it’s a significant driver of economic growth and job creation worldwide. 2️⃣ Sustainability and Climate Action Oceans play a crucial role in regulating Earth’s climate, absorbing over 90% of excess heat and nearly 25% of CO₂ emissions. Investments in renewable projects like offshore wind and tidal energy not only combat climate change but also preserve marine biodiversity. 3️⃣ Food Security As the global population grows, sustainable aquaculture and fisheries are key to addressing rising protein demands while protecting marine ecosystems. 4️⃣ Innovation and Technology Development The Blue Economy fuels innovation in areas such as marine robotics, ocean monitoring systems, and sustainable shipbuilding, creating new markets and driving collaboration across industries. 5️⃣ Protection of Marine Ecosystems Healthy oceans are vital for carbon storage, biodiversity, and coastal protection. Sustainable practices ensure these ecosystems thrive for generations to come. 6️⃣ Resilience Against Global Risks Ocean-based economic activities help nations build resilience against shocks like pandemics and natural disasters, especially in vulnerable coastal communities. 7️⃣ Opportunities for Emerging Markets: Coastal and island nations in the Global South have immense untapped maritime potential. Investments in the Blue Economy empower these regions to sustainably harness resources, fostering economic independence and growth. Join us as we continue to lead conversations that shape the future of sustainable ocean development. Together, we can chart a path toward a more innovative, equitable, and environmentally responsible Blue Economy. #Innovazul2024 #Sustainability #Innovation #BlueEconomy #OrbynGroup
