Brothers ♂️ ♂️ November is #Movember which is synonymous with #MensHealthAwarenessMonth. ♂️ The primary message here is that men are dying much earlier due to preventable health issues. ♂️ Movember is an important time for men's health to raise awareness on vital issues such as: 📌 prostate cancer- the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. 📌 mental health- depression and suicide rates are high. 📌 testicular cancer- the most common cancer in men aged 15-44. 🗣️ The whole essence is to help break down barriers and stigma supporting these conversations. 📌 DYK? A recent study by #Gillette revealed these alarming stats: ➡️ 75% men put off going to the doctor while showing signs of illness? ➡️ 38% men do not think it is important? ➡️ 25% men say they have no time? 📌 From awareness, comes engagement, and if enough people are engaged and stay engaged, we can, each of us, help save lives. Cancer Convos with Grace B. is: ♂️ relentlessly giving men the facts. ♂️ ensuring they change their behaviors for the better. ♂️ tirelessly listening to the men in our community and advocating for them. ♂️ encouraging them to also advocate for themselves. ♂️ ensuring that our spouses, partners, brothers, sisters, friends, and colleagues help drive the message across of going for the necessary health check-ups. 📣 Will you join us in taking action by spreading the word as strong allies? #cancerconvoswithgraceb #Movember2024 #menshealthawareness #menshealthawarenessmonth #MensMentalHealthMattersToo #prostatecancerawareness #testicularcancer #healthadvocate

Movember is more than just growing a mustache; it's about promoting longer, healthier lives for men. In the United States, men face a significant gap in life expectancy compared to women, with men dying about six years earlier on average. Heart disease and cancer stand as the leading causes of death for men, with tobacco use, unhealthy weight, and alcohol consumption ranking as the top risky behaviors. The global Movember campaign challenges men to embrace facial hair during November, aiming to raise awareness about prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health issues. Encouraging open conversations about health is a key focus, urging men to engage with healthcare providers and support each other. To support men's health, here are some essential tips: - Know your numbers and risks: Discuss prostate health with your provider, especially if you're 50 or older. Black men and those with family histories of prostate cancer are at higher risk. - Help your heart and stay active: Maintain a healthy weight, cholesterol, and blood pressure levels. Incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine. - Be aware of testicular health: Regularly check your testicles and seek medical advice if something feels unusual. - Stay connected and communicate: Regularly connect with friends, offer support during tough times, and prioritize meaningful conversations. - Seek assistance: For tobacco cessation support, reach out through various channels. If dealing with substance use or addiction, Oregon's 24/7 Alcohol & Drug Helpline offers compassionate help and local resources. For additional support, Oregon Health & Science University provides a virtual monthly support group for men impacted by prostate cancer. Contact 503-346-0548 or email christc@ohsu.edu for more information. Let's work together to prioritize men's health and well-being. #Movember #MensHealth

November is Men's Health Awareness Month, or as most of us know it Movember! Movember is about raising awareness for men's mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. These are often missed as there is the ridiculous stigma around men having to be "manly" and just "man up" if they're feeling low or unwell. Which leads to never catching cancer in time or getting the mental health they need before it's too late. This stigma needs to end, it will literally save lives. If you are struggling, there is a lot of help out there to get you through your day to day make help you realise things can get better. If you have any symptoms for prostate or testicular cancer, get them checked asap, the sooner you catch it the better. #Movember #MensHealthAwarenessMonth #MensMentalHealthAwareness #ProstateCancerAwareness #TesticularCancerAwareness ID: Seated Sewing graphic for Movember in the company colours.

I couldn't write for the entire week, and today I'm writing this with a heavy heart, as life has dealt my family another cruel blow. My mother, who's always been a pillar of strength and a symbol of resilience, has been diagnosed with 2nd-grade breast cancer. This is the third time cancer has knocked on our door, having already taken my father and uncle from us. (go through my previous cancer post.) What's even more heartbreaking is that my mother has always been a beacon of healthy living—simple habits, a balanced diet, and a disciplined routine. Yet, at 68, she's become a victim of this dreaded disease. The only possible reason I can think of is negligence towards her health. But amidst the tears and fears, there's a glimmer of hope. The diagnosis has come to a stage where treatment is possible, and we're holding onto that hope with all our might. However, age and other health issues do pose a challenge, making the road to recovery tougher. In this difficult time, my family has come together, stronger than ever, to fight this battle alongside my mother. We're determined to support her every step of the way, and we're hopeful that she'll overcome this with the right treatment and care. This experience has left me shaken, but it's also taught me a valuable lesson: health is not something to be taken for granted. Cancer is growing at an alarming rate; every year, nearly 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer. Approximately 9.6 to 10 million people died of cancer across the world in 2023. Isn't it a big number to start taking care of yourself? Let's make a conscious effort to: Prioritize our health. Get regular check-ups. Listen to our bodies. Support those fighting this battle. Let's come together to create a community that cares, supports, and encourages each other to take control of our health. Don't wait until it's too late. Share your own stories, experiences, and tips on how to prioritize your health. Let's raise awareness and fight this battle together! #HealthAwareness #fightcancer #CancerSupport #Wellness #SelfCare #Hope #FamilyLove

Movember: Raising Awareness for Men’s Health this November Throughout November, Movember aims to increase awareness about men’s health, particularly prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention. The statistics speak for themselves: 🟣 Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men, with nearly 11 million men affected globally. 🟣 Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men, with over 800,000 men living with the disease worldwide. 🟣 Each day, more than 1,400 men die by suicide—equating to one man lost every minute. 🟣 Globally, men account for two out of every three suicides. This Movember, it is crucial to promote early detection, provide mental health support, and encourage conversations about men’s health. Together, we can make a difference. #Movember #MensHealth #ProstateCancer #TesticularCancer #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #SQRH

It’s Men’s Health Week this week… With so many men suffering in silence and not knowing where to turn it often feels very lonely and shameful to speak up. Although it is getting a lot better men often feel ashamed to show their true authentic self through fear of ridicule or showing weakness. I have been there, I have been through tough and dark times, I often cry and I often question myself. I also have a very understanding wife, friends that have supported, colleagues that allowed me to be me and many coping mechanisms… but many don’t! We need to continue to challenge toxic masculinity and reduce the stigma by creating open and honest spaces for men to talk. The statistics are alarming with 4 in 5 suicides being men and suicide being the biggest cause of death under 35. This years primary focus is around Prostate Cancer, 1 in 8 men will get this in their lifetime and it is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. If found early then it is very treatable so don't be ashamed to discuss with your doctor or get checked out (on my list to do this month). If you have read this far take the time to reach out to someone to say hi, ask them how they are… more than once (you often have to ask 2 or 3 times to get the real response) and show them you are there if they ever need to talk. If you are a man that is lost, needs some help or just want a chat then let me me know by commenting, linking with me or messaging me directly. #menshealthweek #GoodtoTalk #Brotherhood #LetsTalk #wellbeing #MentalHealth
