The new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester… I know it had its teething problems (understatement of the year?) but now that it’s up and running it’s really impressive from a Facilities perspective. And with ambitions to be the most sustainable arena in Europe, you can see how this could become the blueprint for future venues. On Day 8 of our 12 Days of Collaborations series, we're excited to highlight the key role of familiarization trips, i.e., FAMS. These trips allow our teams to recommend destinations and venues to our clients based on firsthand experiences rather than just information on paper. This knowledge helps everyone involved make smarter business decisions. For example, our Atlanta office sponsored 25 event sourcing professionals for a one of a kind tour of the Beltline. The trip included sightseeing, taste testing, chocolate sampling, graffiti art, and local activities like a wreath-making craft workshop at RFD Social inside Ponce City Market, a 3-million-square-foot community hub. The day was made possible in part through our partnership with Hotlanta’s premier catering and event design company, Bold Catering & Design, a Fifth Group Restaurants brand. I’ve planned and delivered hundreds of events. For big ass brands like Commonwealth Games, Blackmores and Royal Melbourne Show when I was an event manager. Now I have the privilege to help new event planners and small business owners. Like, creative agencies, wineries and event venues. And the same thing is true in both cases. The Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas closed its doors on April 2, 2024 to make way for a new Bally's Resort with 9 acres carved out for a proposed new MLB ballpark (owners already approved the move) for the 3-time vagabond Philadelphia > Kansas City > Oakland Athletics. As I've posted here before, a dream a PR campaign and some renderings does not a stadium deal make... Three key elements must be aligned: 1) You need to own the team; 2) You need to have a land deal; 3) You need to secure funding and financing. With a reported $1.5B estimate and yet another round of architectural renderings (on another site than this conversation started in Vegas barely a year ago) the Athletics have only $386M+/- pledged/secured from the State of Nevada. That's about half of what the Raiders had from the state and only $1.114M short. I know Dave Kaval and I am rooting for him even though I ultimately believe the best play is to STAY IN OAKLAND and do an integrated mixed-use development on the Oakland-Alemeda County Stadium/ Oracle Arena site. DC has proven this investment and development can work given the before and after along South Capital between Buzzard Point and Navy Yard from both Nationals Park and Audi Field. Alas, another Vegas Icon has faded away. The third oldest remaining property on the Strip (behind the Sahara and the Flamingo) with its once sand bottom pool, swim up poker, comedy club, classic casino, historic shows, a decent Robert Irvine restaurant (Public House), 2-story penthouse suites, my best HiltonHonors hook up and kitch past and present is no more. Maybe now we will see some renderings from Bally's... or perhaps new ownership and scrapped plans. It's Vegas... anything can happen (or not). https://lnkd.in/ehxMC3r5

To differentiate from the failing models, the venue would focus on quality, exclusivity, and an unforgettable experience. The current state of London's high-end entertainment scene reflects a significant gap in the market for a truly sophisticated, all-in-one experience catering to the middle-upper class and the 1%.
