Advanced Ionics has announced that Shell International Exploration and Production Inc., through its Shell GameChanger program, will sponsor a pilot project aimed at testing Advanced Ionics’ water-vapor #electrolyzer technology to produce low-cost #hydrogen. The project will support the scaling of Advanced Ionics’ second-generation, 800 cm² #stack, which represents the next step toward commercialization. Shell will test this system at its targeted parameters to demonstrate the suitability and applicability for its renewable hydrogen needs and then potentially for #ammonia production. Advanced Ionics’ Symbion™ Electrolyzer technology utilizes low-cost clean electricity and onsite process or waste #heat to enable the production of #greenhydrogen for less than USD 1/kg, according to the company. By harnessing process or waste heat, Advanced Ionics claims it can produce hydrogen for 35 kWh/kg – up to 40% less electricity per kilogram of hydrogen produced than #alkaline and #PEM technologies. The technology also matches the low capital costs associated with incumbent electrolyzer technologies already in the market today. Read the full story ⬇️

Agastya Hydrogen meets the European Hydrogen Bank regulations On September 27, 2024, the European Hydrogen Bank introduced new terms where prospective projects will not be allowed to source more than 25 percent of electrolyzer stacks — covering surface treatment, cell unit production, and stack assembly—from China. This week, the European Commission shared a letter that further clarifies the regulations. Based on dialogue with investors and analysts, Agastya Hydrogen observes that this has created uncertainty and has led to misunderstandings of the complex supply chain involved in the production of electrolyzers. Therefore, Agastya Hydrogen would like to clarify the following: Agastya Hydrogen fully complies with the European Hydrogen Bank’s funding requirements for our European projects. Any necessary adjustments to our supply chain will be minimal. This week the @IEA launched their Global Hydrogen Review 2024.   The report notes that investment decisions are growing, and global production capacity is gaining momentum.   It called out several ammonia cracking projects, with several large-scale projects announced in Germany, Belgium, and the UK.   The IEA calculates that based on the capacity of announced projects, ammonia cracking in Europe could supply approximately 2 million tonnes of hydrogen by 2030.   Read the full report here: https://shorturl.at/6rpEI   #hydrogen #innovation #ammonia #cracking #FID #IEA #afcenergy

Looking to invest in Hydrogen? (ASX:HZR) Hazer Group was established to commercialise hydrogen production technology developed at the University of WA. Their technology is able to produce hydrogen at lower costs than the traditional SMR whilst having a CO2 intensity to rival SMR + CCS or Electrolysis powered with Renewables. With a lot of momentum behind them, their pilot plant is nearing completion and they have 2 recently signed MoUs to get to the FID decision gate, and not to mention the huge amount of recent interest in Hydrogen in general, they might be one worth a look.
