from PROGRESS REPORT: “Tonight we have our second piece on Project 2025, the far-right’s plan to mount a hostile takeover of the United States government. There’s been a real uptick in national attention on the plan, but it’s mostly focused on the politicization of the civil service and the usual issues that the Biden campaign tends to tout. But Project 2025 is less a political document than a detailed instruction manual for a top-to-bottom Christofascist takeover of government and American society, each step designed to impose a depraved ideology or punish some segment of the populace. This new series digs into the buried elements of Project 2025 that would have a direct, outsized impact on working people. This is Part I and Part II of our newly-completed deep dive into the plan’s assault on labor rights and working class people. Please share it with everybody you can. Source: https://lnkd.in/ejcMjGQm

So instead of leading with common sense and compassion, you show you could care less if folks who work for your state on projects you care about, go into heat stroke, die and leave their families motherless, fatherless, etc? This is not a political thing, it's a moral, ethical thing. And it's monstrous. Fortunately there are sane organizations out there: The DoD is adapting, right John Conger? The construction industry is adapting, right Monika Serrano? You’re documenting adaptation all over, right Doug Parsons? #adaptation

Text: 🛑 Stop Mandated Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) in Prince George's County 🛑 Today, we stand with small businesses and workers in Maryland! The proposed PG 406–25 bill could mandate Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) for all county construction projects, which would exclude 90% of Maryland’s contractors—many of whom are small and minority-owned businesses. This policy could stifle economic opportunity and increase costs, hurting local workers and businesses. It's time to protect fairness, open competition, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. Take action NOW: Click the link to tell your lawmakers to oppose PG 406–25 and keep jobs in Maryland: https://lnkd.in/ge4YAsck Together, we can make a difference! Let's keep jobs in Maryland and support equity for all businesses and workers. 🏗️💼 #FairnessForAll #StopPLAs #OpenCompetition #MarylandJobs #SmallBusiness #MinorityBusiness #PrinceGeorgesCounty #InclusivePolicies #SupportLocalWorkers

An Industry Gut Punch: The Fall of A Respected Firm Even seeing a well-established, reputable company like Rye Demolition enter administration leaves me absolutely disheartened. This Bedfordshire firm had earned its stripes over nearly two decades, becoming a respected specialist across London and the South East. Their latest accounts showed an £11.1m turnover and over £123k in pre-tax profits. Hardly numbers that scream "struggling." And their work? Top-notch. I've seen them praised by industry voices time and again for their dedication to proper practices on major projects like the former St Ann's Hospital site demolition for Hill Group. Rye was one of the "good guys" - a hometown hero flying the flag for professional demolition done right. Which makes this fall from grace all the more disheartening. You have to wonder what fatal combo of factors took down a seemingly healthy specialist contractor like this. Stretching themselves too thin? Cash flow issues? The brutal economic climate finally catching up? Whatever the reasons, it's a sobering reminder that even respected, profitable firms with solid reputations aren't immune to this industry's harsh realities. I'll be watching closely as the details unfurl with Rye under Voscap's administration. We're losing one of the good ones here.
