I am so saddened, angry and upset, to have witnessed the surge of unrest and racist behaviour across our cities. These acts of hate and discrimination have no place in our society, and it is so important that we, as a community, take a stand against them. As a leader in the city of Manchester and a human who loves all humans, I am committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals. I believe that every person, regardless of their background, deserves to be treated with dignity and kindness. Now more than ever, it is crucial for us to be actively anti-racist. This means not only condemning racist actions and rhetoric but also taking concrete steps to promote equity in our communities. We must educate ourselves and others, challenge discriminatory practices, and stand with racialised communities. Let us show that love, empathy, and unity can triumph over hate and division. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels valued and respected. I urge all of you to stand up and stand together against racism. Let us advocate for diversity, and be the change we want to see in the world. Alice Funke Solomon Jumoke Quadri Nurturing Foundations Manchester Youth Zone
