📍 Today marks a milestone for the establishment of a #CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) #valuechain in Norway, with the opening of the CO₂ storage facilities at Northern Lights JV in Øygarden! This facility will support the Norwegian government’s Longship* project, providing infrastructure to transport and store CO₂ from capture sites to a secure reservoir 2,600 meters under the seabed.🌊 Heidelberg Materials Northern Europe is proud to lead our industry’s climate transition with the world’s first CCS solution for cement production currently being built at the Brevik plant in Norway - and we are the first industrial customer to deliver CO₂ by ship to Northern Lights. 🤝 A key success factor of Longship is the dissemination of knowledge and cross-border collaboration. Our General Manager Giv K. Brantenberg spoke at today's Northern Lights Summit, sharing insights on driving commercial investments in carbon capture solutions for hard-to-abate industries. *Longship/Langskip is Norway’s initiative to develop a full-scale CCS value chain, showcasing its potential as a global decarbonization strategy.
Fantastic work!
