The assembly took place at the Shantou Nacelle and Hub Assembly Factory, marking another step forward in the evolution of high-capacity offshore wind turbines. The nacelle and hub are set to make their way to Fujian for installation in an offshore wind project, targeting 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐐1 2025. The project remains on track to harness the power of the seas and contribute to the global transition to renewable energy. Floating offshore wind, in particular, could unlock a tremendous renewable energy potential on a global scale by tapping into stronger wind resources further from shore. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that the potential could be more than 10 times the world’s current electricity demand. Offshore wind farms have the potential to provide a substantial portion of the world's electricity, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. With the Gulf of Mexico's rich natural resources and strategic location, it's no surprise that major players are taking notice. The central German state of Hesse has set itself the goal of sourcing its electricity entirely from renewable sources by 2045. To achieve this ambitious target, an increase in installed capacity by sixfold by 2030 is necessary. Consequently, a continuous and reliable expansion of renewable energy is essential. 🌎💚 Since 2013, the VSB Group has actively contributed to this initiative in Hesse. 🌬☀️ Our Vockenrod wind farm, serenely situated in the Antrifttal in the Vogelsberg area, is now equipped with three modern Nordex N149-5.X wind turbines, which together generate a capacity of 17.1 megawatts. There’s more good news: Following a successful bidding process in February, we have received permission to expand the wind farm. The plan offers up to 10 GW of new wind energy capacity, enough to power 3 million Danish homes. The first subarea, featuring three wind sites (A1-A3), is now open for bids, with a deadline set for 5 December 2024. This makes it one of the largest offshore wind tenders in the world, with turbines expected to be operational by 2030, significantly boosting Denmark’s green energy transition.
