OUR IMPACT IN 2023 📢 We’re committed to making a difference in Europe! At JRS Europe, our commitment to providing assistance knows no bounds. In 2023, we proudly served 235,029 refugees and forcibly displaced individuals across Europe. Through or dedication to uphold refugee rights by providing support in livelihoods, mental health, education, advocacy, legal aid, healthcare, pastoral care, and emergency relief we made an impact in 23 countries. Together with our incredible partners, we're extending our reach even further. Through our One Proposal program, we supported over 44,723 people who have been forced to flee the violence in Ukraine. Totaling 100,765 refugees aided since the start of the conflict, as of December 2023. Our education projects, including CHANGE, U-CHANGE, and CHANGE Environment, are empowering youth to shape brighter futures through knowledge and skills. With "Detention Under the Spotlight," we're shining a light on the challenges faced in migrant detention and working tirelessly to advocate for an end to this practice. Our vision for Europe is one where human rights, protection, hospitality, integration, and reconciliation flourish in inclusive and welcoming societies. ## Advocating for Refugees at the Kenya Model UN I recently had the opportunity to participate in the 24th Session of the Kenya Model United Nations Refugee Competition. This event brought together passionate individuals from across the country to discuss pressing issues facing refugees and advocate for their rights. The global refugee crisis continues to escalate, with millions of people displaced by conflict, persecution, and the devastating impacts of climate change. Now, more than ever, there is a critical need to address the root causes of displacement, protect the rights of refugees, and provide sustainable support to host communities. By fostering dialogue, building partnerships, and empowering youth to become agents of change, we can work towards a more just and equitable future for all. https://lnkd.in/dxaX3iyM

In this dark moment for the United States, with consequences that reach far beyond our borders, my only focus is on standing firm in our principles, even when the stakes are high. As we process this devastating outcome, I hope those of us who are reeling will find strength through mass mobilization and action. I’m hoping that we’ll find leaders unafraid to fight for our values without hesitation and calculation. Our only power lies in organizing and resisting. With Trump intensifying efforts toward mass deportations and targeting marginalized communities, we are the only line of defense against this authoritarian agenda. Now more than ever, all of us—civil society, businesses, public servants, academia—must act without reservation.
Today and every day: we choose to welcome refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants The IRC has been supporting and advocating for the rights of vulnerable and forcibly displaced people for over 90 years. No matter who occupies the executive office, we’ll always continue to stand with refugees and asylum seekers. Share this graphic to show your support and learn more about how you can join us in calling on president-elect Trump to recognize the rights of vulnerable people, at rescue.org.

In the delivery plan (2024-2026) for the New Scots Refugee Integration Strategy, published on 5 July, outcome 4 focuses on communities in Scotland understanding integration interculturally and respecting the diversity and strengths that New Scots bring. Some of the shorter term outcomes identified are that New Scots have improved social connections within society and across communities, improved confidence in using English and that their cultures are respected, celebrated and thrive. It states that there are plans to invest in community initiatives which build on existing good practices and address key priorities identified through the community consultation and/or which support those groups whose needs have already been highlighted. https://lnkd.in/g-fEBMbZ
