We covered narrative therapy (beads of life), SCERTS, employability/post16, creative problem solving methods, social thinking, HCPC regulations, autistic burnout/low arousal, future conference planning and clinical supervision. An enriching, collaborative experience.

British Psychological Society (BPS): Stage Two Qualification Route at risk of shutting down for some specialisms. When three professional qualification training routes for Applied Psychologists in the UK are being reviewed, at the request of the BPS CEO to the Charity's Board of Trustees, with the proposal to withdraw these doctoral equivalent training opportunities - the alarm bells should be ringing in every member's ears. The BPS has stated that any decision will NOT affect any Psychologists in Training already enrolled on the Stage 2 Routes. Is it not time to reach out to the Open University, create a partnership, develop what is known as the Stage 2 Qualification Route for Psychologists, and embrace a flexible approach to training? A generic qualification in applied psychology (with elected specialisms) and conferring a doctoral qualification could be a way forward. It's not that long ago (well, perhaps it is now) that one of our network Divisions, in the days before the trend of a doctoral marque, offered a postgraduate certificate that was academically administered by the OU—with national success! Let's voice our concerns to the BPS Trustees to open a society-wide debate and secure a way forward for those Psychologists in Training and our Colleagues from the Divisions under threat who may be feeling quite vulnerable at this time. The future of Psychology as a recognised profession in the UK may be at risk. We look to our Professional Bodies for representation, and the trend over recent years for psychologists to look to other membership associations (successfully) for alignment has only diluted the standing of the BPS further.
