📍A small advice to law students ….. When reaching out to lawyers and advocates on social media, avoid sending just "Hi" or "Hello" messages. These messages often go unanswered and can come off as unprofessional. Instead, introduce yourself and clearly state your query or request in your initial message. For example: "Hello [Name], I’m [Your Name], a law student at [Your University]. I’m interested in [specific area of law] and would appreciate any advice or insights you might have. Could we discuss this further?" This approach shows respect for the recipient’s time and increases your chances of getting a helpful response. #LawStudents #Networking #Professionalism #LegalAdvice

ATTRACTION OF LEGAL PROFESSION FOR LAWYERS IN NIGERIA Advertisement, soliciting and attraction of business are important parts of any business. It is a proven method to improve the reach and drive the growth of any kind of business. But you might have been wondering: "Why don't Nigerian lawyers advertise their business like other typical services?" Effective communication and ethical advertising are crucial in the legal field to uphold public trust and adhere to professional standards. This document details the rules for lawyers to advertise their services, highlighting the significance of fairness and accuracy in promotion. It outlines acceptable behaviors while emphasizing limitations to avoid false portrayals and excessive self-promotion. By following these guidelines, legal professionals can responsibly interact with prospective clients and maintain the reputation of the profession. By Rule 39 Rules of Professional Conduct, 2023. Lawyers are allowed to advertise their legal services as long as their promotions follow the rules and are fair and appropriate. They should steer clear of deceptive advertising, which damages public confidence in the legal field, disparages competitors, boasts about unconfirmed work quality, or invades privacy excessively. In addition, Lawyers are not allowed to seek out clients using methods like leaflets, marketing materials, or direct interactions, and are also restricted from utilizing advertising to market their services or their firms. Yet, they have the option to provide fundamental professional details in respected law directories, like their name, contact information, schooling history, date of admission to the bar, public service roles, teaching positions, accolades, and memberships in Bar Associations. In conclusion, the regulations for legal advertising aim to maintain the profession's integrity while giving lawyers the opportunity to advertise their services in a responsible manner. By following these guidelines, lawyers can proficiently showcase their skills and knowledge without risking public trust or resorting to unethical conduct. In the end, these regulations aim to boost the integrity of the legal field by making sure advertising is used for helping clients make informed choices rather than deceiving or compromising justice. ✨📚 Comparto con ustedes mi trabajo titulado: "A two-stage framework for addressing punitive damages in Chilean civil law.

Afe Babalola, Olanipekun, 23 others get N1.1bn professional fees from FG The Federal Government has paid a total of N1.1 billion as professional fees to 25 prominent Nigerian lawyers, including Chief Afe Babalola and Wole Olanipekun, over a period of three years. This revelation emerged from an analysis of data provided by GovSpend, a civic tech platform that tracks and analyzes the Federal Government's expenditure. According to PUNCH The revelation emerged from an analysis of data provided by GovSpend, a civic tech platform that tracks and analyses the Federal Government’s expenditure. The concept of professional services in legal practice encompasses various activities performed by lawyers within the scope of an attorney-client relationship. These include offering legal advice, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in legal matters. According to the report, Chief Afe Babalola received N372.9 million on July 23 for representing the Federal Government in a court case registered FHC/ABJ/SC/8962/2023. Wole Olanipekun received N103.6 million, while Dr. Alex Izinyon received N6.2 million for providing similar services. The payments were made by the Federal Ministry of Justice, with the largest payment made in July 2024, totaling N482.7 million. The data also revealed that in 2022, 17 lawyers received a cumulative sum of N359.7 million as professional fees, while four lawyers were paid a total of N319.3 million in 2021. Some of the other lawyers who received payments include Savannah Law Chambers, which received N17.4 million; Lex Habitae, which received N21.8 million; and Rashida Mohammed & Co, which received N17.4 million. The payments have sparked debate about the government's expenditure on legal fees. While some have criticized the large sums paid to individual lawyers, others have argued that the fees are justified given the complexity and importance of the cases involved. It's worth noting that Chief Afe Babalola and Wole Olanipekun are both highly respected and experienced lawyers in Nigeria. Babalola is the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, and has been recognized for his contributions to education and the legal profession.
