A few years ago, someone found themselves in a bit of a professional rut. #HR policies were solid, but they weren’t evolving with the times. They decided to challenge the status quo, sparking a series of changes that not only rejuvenated #HRstrategies but also transformed our #workplaceculture I benefited out of this experience which helped shape my #careerjourney into the leader I have become today. Why Leaders Need to Reframe the Return-To-Office Conversation "Framing refers to how an issue is presented; it’s the meaning layered onto an issue or situation that shapes how people think about its objective facts. More precisely, it’s about re-framing: deliberately replacing taken-for-granted cognitive frames with more helpful ones." Mark Mortensen and Amy Edmondson discuss the concept of ‘framing’ and its role for leaders in engaging in dialogue with employees about the balance between in-person and flexible working. How flat or dense should your org's hierarchy be? We've all heard that a span of control of around seven is the "ideal," but blindly following benchmarks often falls short. The real answer lies in understanding your people and what they need—whether that's support, autonomy, guidance, or coaching. The optimal span of control to balance workload, performance, and team engagement might look very different across teams. Trying to fit everyone into a single model isn’t always the right approach. That's why I’m sharing this starter guide on span of control analysis. It begins with descriptive insights and moves deeper into performance, engagement, and upward feedback, helping you identify the right balance for your organization or specific teams.
