👍 Georgia is making strides to align its energy sector with European standards, with strong support from the Energy Community Secretariat. Earlier this week, we gathered 47 representatives from key Georgian energy and legislative bodies to discuss progress on draft amendments to the law on Energy and Water Supply. These changes aim to benefit consumers, enhance market competition, and support the energy transition. The Secretariat remains committed to assisting Georgia in the timely adoption of these crucial amendments. 💡🔧 #EnergyReform #SustainableFuture #EUStandards #GeorgiaEnergy

Today the #EuropeanCommission released its State of the Energy Union report 2024. How is Europe doing on energy efficiency and 🏡 🏢 ? PEC in the EU decreased by 4.1% decrease compared with 2021, FEC decreased by 2.8% compared with 2021. However, "More action is needed to achieve the 2030 objectives" + "renovation rates and electrification remain too low and national measures are insufficient to reach a decarbonised building stock by 2050" ➡ The implementation of the #FF55 package should remain a priority of the new Commission (#EPBD, #EED, #RED) ➡ Efficient buildings are key to ↘ bills and make Europe's industry more competitive. This should be reflected in upcoming EU legislation e.g. Clean Industrial Deal, EU Affordable Housing Plan and the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

Energy transition is not only about adapting and decarbonising our energy systems but also about adapting the way organisations and bodies tasked with delivering the scale of change approach the challenge. The ability for organisations to look outside their traditional methods and approaches to accelerate change will transform performance, but it can only be done together!
After a hiatus in UK energy policymaking due to the general election period and parliamentary recess, there is currently new momentum from the Government. However, new policies will only translate into tangible progress if backed by clear, actionable, reliable delivery plans. Our UK Head of Energy and Natural Resources, Alan Sinclair, explores what is needed from the UK energy industry to turn investors’ positive intentions into a reality. Accelerating the decarbonisation of our power systems is fundamental to achieving our goals for sustainable development. Transitioning away from centuries of burning fossils is a huge task - the range and scale of projects we need can feel daunting but a structured approach can really build confidence across the stakeholder landscape 1. Clarity - being really clear about what we know we need, where the technology is mature and ready to go (grid, renewables, batteries, electrification). Accelerating delivery plans for new infrastructure focused on the shared outcomes we want 2. Authentic - being straight about where knowledge and markets are still emerging and what stakeholders can do to address gaps in understanding 3. Tackling barriers to investment help drive forward the commercialisation and readiness for new technologies to integrate as a holistic system 4. Learning - taking positive action to improve our knowledge and collaborate across boundaries. With so much innovation and development underway we'll need to take an iterative approach. A perfect technological solution to the transition will not exist - by communicating openly we can build confidence in the journey ahead - exciting times indeed
