Accelerating the decarbonisation of our power systems is fundamental to achieving our goals for sustainable development. Transitioning away from centuries of burning fossils is a huge task - the range and scale of projects we need can feel daunting but a structured approach can really build confidence across the stakeholder landscape 1. Clarity - being really clear about what we know we need, where the technology is mature and ready to go (grid, renewables, batteries, electrification). Accelerating delivery plans for new infrastructure focused on the shared outcomes we want 2. Authentic - being straight about where knowledge and markets are still emerging and what stakeholders can do to address gaps in understanding 3. Tackling barriers to investment help drive forward the commercialisation and readiness for new technologies to integrate as a holistic system 4. Learning - taking positive action to improve our knowledge and collaborate across boundaries. With so much innovation and development underway we'll need to take an iterative approach. A perfect technological solution to the transition will not exist - by communicating openly we can build confidence in the journey ahead - exciting times indeed

When considering confidence in deliverability, it is likely to be very challenging for several reasons, such as the exceptional scale and pace of change needed to deliver new infrastructure. This change in itself will be a mammoth task. The delivery of the unprecedented scale and pace of change needed requires collaboration and actions by all stakeholders, including the industry and customers. 🌍✨ Exciting Developments in Global Energy Policy! ✨🌍 The latest IEA Policy Report, the Energy Policy Inventory, has just been released, offering a comprehensive overview of energy policies worldwide. This invaluable resource maps over 50 key policy types from more than 50 countries, cataloguing over 5,000 energy policies to provide a detailed snapshot of global actions and strategies across various sectors. Key highlights from the report include: 🔹 Regulations: Including Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), pricing instruments, and plans for phasing out specific technologies. 🔹 Government Spending: Detailed insights from the IEA’s Government Energy Spending Tracker, covering clean energy investments and measures to enhance short-term energy affordability. 🔹 Trade Policies: Analysis of tariffs, non-tariff measures, and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) incorporating clean energy technologies. It's important to note that while the report outlines significant policies, it captures general trends rather than the full complexity of each country's unique policy landscape. This approach fosters a clearer understanding of key national and international policy metrics shared among IEA and G20 member countries. #EnergyPolicy #GlobalEnergy #IEAReport #SustainableFuture #CleanEnergy #PolicyAnalysis Source: https://lnkd.in/digZrwQF
