✍ New blog post! We’re excited to share our latest blog post by Adrien Borras, our Impact Analyst at hummingbirds. The article explores why it is crucial to foster biodiversity by planting multiple tree species in afforestation and reforestation projects. Diverse forests not only are more resilient to pests, diseases and climate change, they also store more carbon than monocultures, whilst enhancing ecosystems and supporting local wildlife. 🌳 👉 Read the full article below to learn more about why #biodiversity conservation is so important in #ARR projects. Feel free to share any questions in the comments. Stay tuned for our next month’s blog post! #NaturebasedSolutions #Conservation

My first blog article ! Talking about monoculture tree plantation 🌲 🌲 vs multispecies systems 🌳 🌲 . Carbon sequestration initiatives and wood production systems need to address biodiversity conservation. We all depend on nature, let's do our part!

They are not making much new land. Natural vegetational communities and wildlife populations have been devastated for centuries. It is an open question whether globally enough natural ecosystems exist to sustain economies and an operable biosphere. It is so very, very important that we not willingly allow biodiversity -- the constituent species that make up ecosystems that sustain us all -- to perish. The best economic value of remaining naturally evolved genetic resources, natural plant communities, and intact ecosystems is to maintain them in an intact state. And allow ecosystems to recover and expand, for a variety of economic and ecological benefits. It is possible to target land protections to maximize biodiversity conservation, and it is imperative that we do so. What is lost biologically can never be recovered. Extinction is forever. https://lnkd.in/eyR_MQfh #extinction #land #ecosystems #sustainability | More: https://lnkd.in/eqEtjiGZ

Good news are rare these days. But they exist! A comprehensive analysis published in Science Magazine proved that measures to conserve or restore #nature can actually halt and reserve biodiversity loss. The analysis reviewed 186 studies covering 665 trials of different conservation interventions across the world over the past century. In two-thirds of the cases, conservation actions either improved biodiversity or slowed its decline. Here in Europe, we have seen many wild mammal populations recover, including a 16,000(!) percent increase in the population of beavers in the past 40 years, who now in turn are active as ecosystem engineers to improve the quality of wetland habitats across many countries. Nature could be on the verge of a phenomenal comeback - if we help her! #GenerationRestoration #ClimateAction Mongabay News Oliver Bolton Sarah Nelson Ann-Kathrin Neureuther Nature4Climate Estelle Winkleman Johannes van de Ven https://lnkd.in/dfJrtqeP

New Post: Parnassius Apollo: The Umbrella Species Guarding Biodiversity -When it comes to protecting our planet’s valuable biodiversity, it sometimes takes a hero to defend the masses. The Parnassius apollo is a champion in the fascinating world of butterflies. The Apollo butterfly, often referred to as a “umbrella species,” plays a critical role in protecting not only its own species but an entire environment rich with lesser-known species. In this article, we’ll focus on why the conservation of Parnassius apollo is so crucial and how it acts as a bioindicator, offering valuable insights into the health of its habitat. Restoring and protecting ecosystems works! Restoring Resilient Ecosystems has so many benefits. Protect and restore this planet. Stop focusing on what doesn’t work and focus on what does. I continuously see improvement in ecosystems when we restore the land. Year after year i see more species appear as the land heals. If people make the effort, if they support the people doing the work then the magic happens. Let’s go!!! #resilientecosystems #ecology #ecosystemrestoration #biodiversity #ecologicalrestoration

Biodiversity in the #UK ranked with most biodiverse area boasting 67 species and least biodiverse locale possessing 22 species. #biodiversity locality information is crucial not only for #conservation but also for long-term planning for social and economic development programmes and/or projects. Biodiverse Ecosystem Exclusion Zones: knowing what species are located where and by how many they are — is cornerstone for biodiversity and ecosystems conservation as well as climate change mitigation, resilience, and adaptation. Biodiversity information sharing should be publicly disseminated to help protect, conserve, and develop them.
