We are Everything to some, but very little to Everyone. Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant year of 2009, there emerged a coffee shop named TRUTH. crafted by the visionary David Donde. This wasn’t Donde’s first foray into the aromatic world of beans; he had already gifted South Africa with its premier artisan roastery, Origin Coffee. And it was quite nice, indeed. Donde’s aspirations transformed a Victorian warehouse, circa 1898, into the home of TRUTH.CapeTown. This metamorphosis took a year and centered around the vintage 1940’s roaster, Colossus. The world took notice, with accolades from The Times and The Guardian hailing it as the globe’s top coffee shop. And life was, unquestionably, good. The End. But, oh, not quite. The plot thickened as Donde unfurled a string of new ventures: the clandestine speakeasy The Art of Duplicity, a rendezvous of secrets and spirits; Rapt - The Art of Indulgence, a sweet escapade through a Roy Lichtenstein-inspired chocolate fantasy; and Flour Market a Bauhaus-inspired bakery where the air is always thick with the scent of freshly baked epiphanies. Each chapter is a testament to the creation of the EXTRAORDINARY, blending healthier choices with a touch of whimsy, and cherishing the timeless over the fleeting. But the story? Oh, it's far from over. For here you are, dear reader, a co-author in this unfolding narrative. You help write the next chapter… Join us on a Journey to Mindful Consumption… Introducing, What‽ Food Group. #TRUTHCapeTown #RaptIndulgence #FlourMarketCT #TheArtOfDuplicity #WhatFoodGroup

The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a traditional ritual that holds cultural significance in Ethiopia, where coffee is an integral part of social life. This ceremony is not just about drinking coffee; it is a communal event that fosters social bonds and hospitality. Here’s an overview of the key elements of the Ethiopian coffee ceremony: Components of the Ceremony: 1. Preparation of Coffee: - Green Coffee Beans: The ceremony begins with green coffee beans, which are often roasted in a pan over an open flame. This roasting process releases a rich aroma that fills the room. - Grinding: After roasting, the beans are ground using a mortar and pestle or a traditional grinder. 2. Brewing: - The ground coffee is then brewed in a special pot called a jebena, which is typically made from clay or metal. Water is boiled in the jebena, and the ground coffee is added, often along with spices like cardamom or cinnamon for added flavor. 3. Serving: - The brewed coffee is poured into small cups, often without sugar at first. Guests may add sugar or salt according to their preference. The coffee is usually served in three rounds, known as abol, tona, and baraka, with each round being progressively stronger. 4. Accompaniments: - The coffee is often accompanied by popcorn or other snacks, which are served to enhance the experience. Cultural Significance: - Social Gathering: The coffee ceremony is a communal event, often involving family and friends. It is a time for conversation, storytelling, and bonding. - Hospitality: Hosting a coffee ceremony is a sign of respect and hospitality. It is common for Ethiopians to invite guests to participate in this ceremony. - Ritual and Tradition: The ceremony is steeped in tradition, with specific rituals and practices that vary by region and community. Conclusion: The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a rich cultural tradition that goes beyond the act of drinking coffee. It emphasizes community, hospitality, and the importance of social connections. Participating in or observing this ceremony provides a unique insight into Ethiopian culture and its values surrounding coffee. #EthiopianCoffee #CoffeeCeremony #EthiopianCulture #CoffeeLovers #Ethiopia #CoffeeTradition #CulturalHeritage #CoffeeArt #EthiopianTradition #CoffeeTime #CeremonyOfCoffee #EthiopianBeans #CoffeeExperience #TraditionalCoffee #EthiopianFlavors #ethiodanakiltours

☕ Australia’s coffee culture is more than just a morning ritual; it’s an integral part of the national identity. From the vibrant cafes, to the specialty roasters both big and small, Australia continues to set global benchmarks for quality and standards in coffee. ☕ Although the long-term outlook remains positive, the industry in Australia is currently grappling with significant challenges. Rising commodity costs driven by growing global demand, supply chain delays, droughts in Brazil, floods in Vietnam, and a persistent production-consumption gap over the years are all impacting the sector. Farmers, importers, roasters, and cafes are navigating these obstacles alongside the increasing cost of living, creating intense pressure to stay ahead. To build a more sustainable and resilient future for the industry, we require collaboration across the entire supply chain, mutual support, and a shared understanding that costs have risen dramatically at every level, in every section of Melbourne's coffee supply. #CoffeeCulture #Australia #SpecialtyCoffee

Where Passion Meets Purpose Have you ever wondered how a simple idea can transform into something bigger than yourself? I thought Smart Foods Caribbean was big, but here comes Oui Island Company. I’ve always been inspired by the richness of our culture, the vibrancy of our food, and the resilience of our people. But I also saw the challenges while managing Smart Foods Caribbean — too much food wasted, too many imports overshadowing our local treasures, and too few opportunities for Caribbean farmers to thrive. Oui Island Company was born out of a desire to change that. Our mission is simple but powerful: to create high-quality, authentic Caribbean food products for Caribbean people. From locally sourced fruit juices to baking mixes, everything we do is rooted in our belief that the best of the Caribbean should stay in the Caribbean. But this idea is sometimes not supported. What do you think? Should the best of the Caribbean stay in the Caribbean? #OuiIsland #smartfoodscaribbean #agroprocessing #agroprocessingtalk

The Story Behind The Ripe Avocado 🥑 As we enter #BlackHistoryMonth, we want to explain why our founder, Jay, started The Ripe Avocado, especially as his journey feels more relevant than ever at this time. Jay's passion for food and events runs deep, but his vision goes beyond just creating delicious dishes. In a city brimming with catering companies, Jay saw a lack of diversity at the helm of these businesses. "I wanted to celebrate my heritage and diverse background whilst creating a space for others like me," Jay explains. His mission? To bring a fresh approach to event catering and to be a beacon for ambitious people of colour in the industry. The Ripe Avocado isn't just about food; it's about representation and a blend of cultures and flavours. It’s about bringing the richness of Jay's Ghanaian roots to the forefront of London's culinary scene. Some of our most beloved recipes take inspiration from Jay's Nana's kitchen, or from his time spent in Ghana with his father, tasting, developing and tweaking traditional flavours into something more contemporary. You can see him pictured with them both here. In an industry where people who look like Jay are underrepresented, The Ripe Avocado stands as a testament to the power of diversity. We're not just catering events; we're changing the landscape of the industry, one perfectly ripe avocado at a time. Here's to breaking barriers, celebrating heritage, and serving up a slice of change! #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM #EventCatering #FoodForEvents #Diversity

At the end of 2024, the City of Cape Town launched Wineland Wonders, a digital guide to the Western Cape’s wine destinations. More than 40 farms have been included across three significant winemaking regions: Constantia, Helderberg and Durbanville. ‘Our world-class wines represent a fantastic value proposition for both tourists and economic growth,’ says Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth. ‘That is why I encouraged the department’s Tourism and Place Marketing Branch to develop this guide. It is about highlighting Cape Town’s rich wine culture and helping people explore our stunning wine farms.’ Several Vinimark Brand Partners such as Nitida Wine Cellars, Constantia Glen, Groot Constantia and Le Riche Wines are included in the growing list of wine tasting locations on the map. Find the routes at this link: https://lnkd.in/dDq-rFzk and follow us for more news about South Africa’s wine industry.
