We need to take a zero-tolerance approach to transphobia in schools. Here’s 7 top tips to tackle it: 1. 🏳️⚧️ Educate staff about transgender identities, experiences, and challenges including the difference between being transgender and gender non-confirming. Knowledge is key to fostering empathy, acceptance, and support. #TransAwareness 2. 🌈 Ensure that school policies and practices are inclusive of transgender students, including toilet access, dress codes, and preferred name/pronoun usage. Equity and dignity matter. #TransRightsAreHumanRights 3. 🚫 Continue to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about gender and gender identity. Embrace the complexity and fluidity of gender expression, and reject harmful binaries. #BreakTheBinary 4. 📢 Speak out against transphobic language and behaviour. Silence only perpetuates discrimination. Let's amplify voices of acceptance and stand up for transgender rights. #SpeakUpForTransEquality 5. 📚 Incorporate transgender perspectives and stories into the curriculum to promote visibility and representation. Let's celebrate the richness of diversity in all its forms. #RepresentationMatters 6. 🤝 Establish support networks and allyship groups for transgender students to find community, share experiences, and access resources for empowerment and advocacy. #TransSupport 7. 🌱 Provide ongoing training and professional development for staff on transgender sensitivity, inclusion, and support strategies. Let's ensure that every educator is equipped to create inclusive spaces. #TransAwareness #TransRightsAreHumanRights #BreakTheBinary #SpeakUpForTransEquality #RepresentationMatters #TransSupport #TransAlly #SafeSchools
I‘m struck with how inclusive and supportive my school and district is for our trans students … and how none of it applies to me, a trans teacher.
Definitely that is very trie and as always you are a legend ans always an icon never forget that okay

6moThe Western/Anglosphere (UK+CANZUS) policy on "Freedom of Religion" meaning religion is free to do whatever it wants conflicts with the above policy goals. Much of the push for binaries comes from Abrahamic religious doctrine, with Christian laws/worldviews forming the basis of Anglosphere law/worldviews. As a subject of the Canadian Crown (IE: I have Canadian citizenship, and Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy), we have a separation of State from Religion (meaning, the state can't restrict religion), but we have nothing like a separation of Religion from State (outside of Quebec, which has a limited laïcité policy).
