Here we go. Recently we’ve been onboarding a whole lot of businesses that are leaving Auth0 by Okta after being told their bill was going to be increased by hundreds - sometimes thousands - of percent. These are companies that have been loyal for years. Have thousands of businesses depending on them, and are smashing it out of the park. And now they’ve been put in an incredibly difficult position: either pay up or migrate off within 90 days. Here’s the way I see it: As an auth provider you have the responsibility to look after the people who trust you with their businesses. The day you agreed to take on their business, was the day you agreed to be a partner to them, and not to try and screw them at the first chance you get. These businesses depend on you, as the literal front door to their business, to keep their business secure. That is the mandate. Increasing their bill by 2,000% actually does the opposite of keep them secure. It puts them at risk. This is making auth (a commodity) into a business limiting consideration – and potentially a business killer. It’s clear what’s driving this change, but putting investor wishes over customer needs is the most short sighted s**t I’ve ever heard. Looks like their customers think so too. Kinde added more customers last quarter than they did. So I’m not complaining. This is why we’re re-introducing our 6 months free for any business upgrading to Kinde. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a virtual interview with Consero Global. I'm optimistic about the potential outcomes and am excited about joining a company like Consero Global, known for its commitment to excellence in financial services. Looking forward to what's next and am grateful for this valuable experience, The process was engaging, focusing primarily on foundational accounting knowledge. Here are some of the key questions that were discussed. The classic opener: 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. Understanding of purchase and sales entries in accounting. 3. Delving into the golden rules of accounting. 4. The intricacies of financial statements. 5. Handling debtors and creditors entries. 6. Differentiating between sales income and other types of income. 7. The concept of depreciation and its journal entry. 8. Making sense of prepaid and outstanding entries. 9. Analyzing the Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS). The interview experience served as a valuable opportunity to reflect on and apply my accounting knowledge. Feeling thankful for the chance to engage with these fundamental topics, and eager to continue growing in my professional journey.
