🌍 World Mental Health Day 🌍 Let’s shine a light on a critical area: the mental health support for adopted, foster, and kinship children. These young people often carry the weight of unique challenges and traumas, but with the right tools and support, they can heal and thrive. 💙💚💖 Schools play a vital role in this process. Trauma-informed environments create safe spaces where children feel valued, understood, and empowered to succeed. Together, we can advocate for policies and resources that ensure every child, no matter their story, has access to the care they deserve. 🛠️🧠 Let’s make mental health a priority for all children. #WorldMentalHealthDay #TraumaInformedCare #MentalHealthMatters #FosterCare #AdoptionSupport #KinshipCare #ChildAdvocacy #StrongerTogether #ThrivingChildren

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek we want to highlight the importance of supporting the mental health needs of children in kinship care. 💛 Our research shows that children living in #KinshipCare - being raised by a relative or family friend because a parent can't - have often experienced trauma and loss. As a result, they are more likely to have higher levels of mental health needs than children in the general population. We know that the unmet demand for mental health support for children growing up in kinship care is significant. Even where this type of support is provided, #KinshipFamilies are struggling to access it. Kinship's 'Cost of Loving' report revealed that nearly two thirds of #KinshipCarers said accessing mental health support for their children was difficult or very difficult. Join the #ValueOurLove campaign which is calling on the Government to equalise support (including therapeutic support) for children in #KinshipCare and children in #FosterCare: https://loom.ly/XQLm2q0

"Let's talk about something often overlooked: the impact of car wrecks on children's mental health. 🚗💥 It's easy to forget that little ones in the backseat can be deeply affected by the trauma of an accident. From anxiety and nightmares to behavioral changes and academic struggles, the repercussions can be profound and long-lasting. As caregivers, educators, and community members, it's crucial that we recognize and address the emotional toll that car wrecks can take on children. Providing a supportive environment, open communication, and access to professional help can make all the difference in helping our youngest cope and thrive after such a frightening experience. Let's work together to raise awareness and support for the mental well-being of children impacted by car wrecks. When it comes to mental health treatments, it's important to remember the significance of family support. The burden of care that families experience when a family member is facing mental illness can be overwhelming. To address this, a utilitarian approach that focuses on community care and radical love is needed. In today's world, where self-centeredness is prevalent, it's easy to forget about immigrants who lack family support in host countries. Let's work together to ensure that everyone has access to the care and support they need. Equitable mental health care is not achieved until everyone regardless of their status gets accessible and affordable mental health care……. #mentalhealthawareness #familysupport #communitycare #selfdiagnosis #communitypsychology #immigrants #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthawareness

In family therapy sessions, it's not uncommon for a child to open up and engage, only to shut down once their parent or guardian joins the session. This shift often occurs because the child knows they'll have to return home with their parent, whereas the therapist won't be there. Bridging this understanding gap about therapy and mental health between families and children is crucial, and often requires more education for the adults than the children themselves. Join us in exploring the strategies for enhancing mental health education for families. Follow us and be part of the conversation on promoting mental health literacy among adults. Let's work together to empower families with the knowledge and understanding needed to support their children's mental health. #FamilyTherapy #JoinArPA #ArPAStrong #ArPAStrong
