Last week, Minister of Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund announced two political agreements on the allocation DKK 5.5 billion (USD $780 million) in 2025 to research and innovation to tackle Denmark’s most pressing issues: climate, security, and health. This funding aims to support critical research initiatives that will power a green transition, strengthen national security, and drive health and life sciences forward. By investing heavily in these areas, Denmark is building a future rooted in sustainability, resilience, and improved quality of life for its citizens. Moreover, the initiative has received broad political support, uniting parties across Denmark in a shared commitment to advancing research and innovation for the future. One particularly exciting part of this initiative is the launch of a new quantum postdoc exchange program, a program developed based on input from Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley and Boston, with 20 million DKK (USD $2.9 million) dedicated to fostering cross-border quantum research. This program will make it possible to further expand the collaboration between Danish and American researchers, opening doors to new discoveries and collaboration in quantum technology. - The new postdoc exchange program will offer a number of early-career quantum researchers the opportunity to conduct part of their research at leading universities in the USA and other countries. We know such exchange stays help establish lasting international connections and networks, which will contribute to strengthening Danish quantum research, says Science Attaché Torben Orla Nielsen and Allan Skårup Kristensen from Innovation Centre Denmark Boston and Innovation Centre Denmark Silicon Valley. We believe it’s crucial to continue building strong links between Denmark and the U.S., and we look forward to the innovative research and projects that will emerge from this robust governmental support.
