Press Release - At IEDM 2024, imec presents a new #CFET-based standard cell architecture containing two rows of CFETs with a shared signal routing wall in between. The main benefits of this double-row CFET architecture are process simplification and significant logic and SRAM cell area reduction according to imec’s design-technology co-optimization (DTCO) study. The new architecture allows standard cell heights to be reduced from 4 to 3.5T, compared to conventional single-row CFETs. ➡️ Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/ejjV_gJa ➡️ Or learn more in our monolithic CFET paper: https://lnkd.in/eDUU4d9R ➡️ Also presented by Anne Vandooren during ITF@IEDM: https://lnkd.in/ecDXH8aM

"The computer will become the predominant medium of communication." – Steve Jobs, 1983 International Design Conference, Aspen. At the 1983 International Design Conference, Steve Jobs foresaw the future of personal computing with uncanny precision. His visionary talk touched on the evolution of the computer as a medium, drawing parallels between personal computers and earlier technological shifts like the electric motor. Jobs believed computers were not just machines but powerful tools for communication, a medium that would transform how we live, work, and create. He coined the term "fractional horsepower computing" to describe the revolutionary power of the personal computer. According to Jobs, this shift enabled individuals to access computing power that was once reserved for large organizations. In his talk, Jobs emphasized how computers would integrate seamlessly into our daily lives, predicting that by 1986, the number of personal computers would surpass the number of automobiles sold annually. He also made a plea to designers, encouraging them to create products that were not only functional but also beautiful, reflecting his belief in the importance of industrial design. Fast forward to today, and we see his vision come to life. From the sleek devices we carry to the powerful systems we rely on, computers have indeed become the "new medium" Jobs spoke about. As we reflect on this iconic talk, we see how far we've come, yet his core message remains timeless: technology, when designed thoughtfully, becomes an extension of ourselves. It's not just about raw power but how it enriches our human experience. 💡 What are your thoughts on Jobs’ vision and how personal computing has evolved? 🔄 Repost and follow us for more reflections on innovation and leadership. #Innovation #Leadership #SteveJobs #PersonalComputing #TechHistory #DesignThinking #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfWork #Entrepreneurship #LeadershipDevelopment #TechInnovation
