Just because Retina World Congress ended doesn’t mean the education does! We are recapping one of the Industry Expert Theaters presented by Maria H Berrocal MD and Dr. Baruch D. Kuppermann titled “A Case-Based Approach to using VABYSMO” #Vabysmo is the first and only FDA-approved treatment designed to block 2 causes of vision loss (VEGF and Ang-2) According to Dr. Berrocal, VABYSMO (faricimab-svoa) unlike Anti-VEGF agents alone, achieves greater drying effects than other agents. In addition, close to 80% of patients in both the #DME and #nAMD patients, we able to be treated every 3-4 months. Discover cutting-edge vascular treatments with innovative techniques! I’m thrilled to share that my latest vascular intervention, the "Percut-AV-bypass," was enthusiastically received at the prestigious Charing Cross Symposium in London. This groundbreaking technique, which I presented following its debut at the ESVS in Belfast, enables the creation of hemodialysis access through a fully percutaneous approach. What is the Percut-AV-bypass? The Percut-AV-bypass is an extension of percutaneous bypass innovations, simplifying procedures for patients requiring vascular access for hemodialysis. This technique allows for shunts to be created to respond to the difficult problem of venous breakdown, without traditional surgery, significantly reducing recovery time and enhancing patient comfort. Charing Cross Symposium, an epicenter for vascular and endovascular education, focuses on emerging challenges in vascular medicine, underscores the critical importance of innovative solutions like those, and was a fantastic platform to introduce the Percut-AV-bypass to peers worldwide. Join us in advancing vascular care. If you're interested in learning more about the Percut-AV-bypass or other innovations in percutaneous bypasses, please feel free to connect. Let’s work together to improve patient outcomes with advanced, minimally invasive treatments that set new standards in vascular care. #VascularHealth #Innovation #CharingCross2025 #HealthcareCollaboration #PercutaneousBypass

What makes Retina World Congress unique is that it is truly a global congress! Dr. Barbara Parolini (Italy) has spent the past 15 years studying Myopic Traction Maculopathy and discuses the best way in treating the disease. According to Dr. Parolini, MTM affects 1/3 of pathologic myopia (PM) eyes and is projected to affect roughly 1million people by 2050. Based on her research, Dr. Parolini has published the #MTM staging system and identified guidelines and treatment protocols per stage. Take a listen to this video and hear Dr. Parolini’s summary of her presentation at Retina World Congress 2024. References: Parolini. B. CG BIO, a leading medical device company, announced that significant clinical results demonstrating a 100% interbody fusion success rate at 52 weeks for its innovative bone substitutes "Novosis and Excelos Inject" in the spine surgery have been published in "Journal of Clinical Medicine". The study, led by Prof. Jae-Hwan Cho of Asan Medical Center in Seoul and Prof. Ji-Won Kwon of Severance Hospital in Gangnam, investigated the effectiveness of Novosis in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) surgery. The product, which contains human recombinant bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2), was shown to significantly increase fusion rates, which is critical to the success of lumbar surgery. We expect that this result will have a positive impact not only on patients but also on the medical environment and society, and we are one step closer to successfully entering the U.S. market, especially since it is a preliminary results of a product similar in composition to Novosis Putty, which is about to enter the U.S. market, the largest market in the world. Dear Colleagues, A recent publication in Medical Science Monitor explores the efficacy of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease (MVD) and moderate/severe ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR). The study found that PCI could significantly improve MR severity without mitral valve intervention, offering a potential alternative for elderly patients with low body weight and renal insufficiency. These findings highlight the potential of PCI to spare high-risk surgery and alleviate the burden of IMR in specific patient populations. The complete report is now available on the Medical Science Monitor webpage. | https://lnkd.in/dcyW6fPX

Pleased to share our recent findings, presented at the American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) conference, from two studies conducted by the Wondr Health team. A few key highlights: STUDY 1 28,833 Wondr program participants: 60% with obesity and 32% with overweight FINDINGS: Participation in Wondr activities outside of class predicted weight loss, and those individuals who participated in the most activities had 50% greater weight loss at 12 weeks than the lowest group with weight logging predicting the greatest weight loss. STUDY 2 226,909 Wondr program participants: 63% with obesity and 30% with overweight FINDINGS: People who engaged with the Wondr community platform lost significantly more weight than those who did not. Even those who strictly read content had 60% greater weight loss than those who did not engage. Why this matters: Weight loss is extremely complex, but behavior-change programs, when done well, can help participants build skills and encourage engagement in healthy activities – all while providing a support system for encouragement, motivation, and connection. A big thank you to Sasha Clynes, DrPH, MA for your great leadership making this possible and to the data team for your spectacular support..
📢 BREAKING: Data from two studies found specific activities are tied to increased weight loss during Wondr program participation. These activities include participating in Wondr’s online community support program, skill checks, meal logging, goal setting, physical activity tracking, and weight logging. These findings were presented by our Chief Medical Officer, Tim Church, MD, MPH, PhD, at the Annual Meeting of the American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) conference. November 25th, Newcastle I will be presenting initial data generated through the NHS study “Arthrogenex” (Arthroplasty+genetics+explants) at the NHS Implant Analysis Service conference. The Arthrogenex study is investigating the relationship between loosening, wear, metal ions, pain and inflammatory responses (including ALVAL) post #arthroplasty. The data is already very compelling, thanks to collab with (among many) Raghavendra Sidaginamale Simon Tilley Moreica Pabbruwe Hospital for Special Surgery North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust ExplantLab UCL University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust I strongly believe that within the next two years: 1. Blood metal ion analysis will become a routine part of patient management following arthroplasty....not just for metal-on-metal hips, and not just for cobalt and chromium. 2. Every journal editorial and conference presentation talking about unexplained pain following arthroplasty will include discussion of metal levels as a marker for loosening and/or inflammatory responses. Just my opinions. Come along to see the data and decide for yourselves. Thanks to BBraun CeramTec – The Ceramic Experts Stryker Smith+Nephew for supporting. Ivan Tornos will you guys be there?
