Not to sound like a broken record, but perhaps a significant part of the answer to the 400 Billion NOK question lies right in front of us, in the form of around 155 000 oil and gas workers today working in “oljå”. A workforce with education, competence and experience transferable and applicable to the emerging clean energy industries. Not only CCS, hydrogen, and offshore wind, but also geothermal, solar, and hydro. All emerging industries with vast opportunities ahead. Of all places, Texas and Houston, have made this realization, and have managed to get policymakers, regulators. tax authorities, educational and financial institutions on the same page. There is no reason we should not be able to do the same. #Bifrostsummit2024 was last week, and what a week! Three years ago, we kicked off the first Bifrost Summit, Nordic Innovation House - Silicon Valley, and Business Sweden as main organizers. Then, a one-day conference with two side events. Every year, it has grown bigger and better and a true Nordic activity. This third year was a week packed with multiple side events daily. Leaving after two immensely inspiring days at the CREtech 2024 conference - packed with relevant and innovative ideas, use cases and solutions. Representing the “40%” industry - buildings' toll on resources, energy and emissions - making the built environment more sustainable is crucial – and obviously possible! So many great examples from so many passionate and competent people makes me optimistic about what we can achieve, if we are willing to change our behaviour and prioritise our resources differently. It is going to cost, but it is an investment in the future for all. I am equally happy to see that our work at NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences is in the forefront of innovation with our Smart Campus initiative: An integrated solution on a common digital platform, collecting, connecting, analyzing and utilising data from all our buildings and their users: BIM, assets, technical system, IoT and sensors, wifi and infrastructure, energy systems and surroundings. Our future "Intelligent Digital Twins" will help us with area and space utilisation, IEQ optimisation, energy usage and flexibility, waste and emissions control - as well as user dialogue – everything that contributes to making our built environment more sustainable. Horizon Europe's prestigious PROSPECTS 5.0 Horizon Europe Project, of which SMARALD TECH is one of the partners, has been accepted within the scope of the European Union's Horizon Europe Fund! Project Name: PROSPECTS 5.0- Progress Towards Industry 5-0: A Smart Study On Analysis And Identification Of Practices, Drivers, Success Factors And Obstacles Of Transitions Towards Industry 5.0. With this exciting development, SMARALD TECH will have the opportunity to be part of an important project contributing to the human-centered and ethical development of digital and industrial technologies. PROSPECTS 5.0 is part of Horizon Europe Cluster 4(Digital, Industry, Space) and aims to offer a more inclusive and #sustainablefuture for Europe's industry. The PROSPECTS 5.0 project carried out under the coordination of Flanders Make, aims to facilitate the transition of businesses across various sectors by promoting the adoption of human-centered principles of Industry 5.0.
