This Giving Tuesday, I want to give a big shout out to SASE - Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers—and to incredible mentors like Matt Diaz and Khánh Vũ! 💚💙 SASE has given me opportunities beyond what I could have dreamed of while I was in school. It’s truly helped me grow into the leader I am today. Even though I still experience imposter syndrome and struggle with self-confidence sometimes, SASE has constantly pushed me out of my comfort zone and onto the path to becoming the best version of myself. 💛 Speaking of stepping out of my comfort zone, I’m super proud to share that I earned my “AI Skills Challenge | November 2024” badge today! 🏅 Learning new skills through Microsoft Learn has been such an empowering experience, and I hope this inspires you to start your own learning journey too. Check out my achievement here: https://lnkd.in/gWThNA6K On this day of giving, I’m reflecting on how much SASE and learning opportunities like this have shaped me. Giving back doesn’t always have to be big—it can start with supporting the communities, organizations, and people who’ve helped you grow. Let’s keep inspiring each other to reach new heights! 😇 🙌 #GivingTuesday #Gratitude #SASEfam #SASELeads #MicrosoftLearn #AIJourney #ImposterSyndrome #LifelongLearning #GrowthMindset #SkillBuilding #STEMLeadership

Not usually one to post on social media, let alone Linkedin, this is something I feel particularly strongly about 🚀 Earlier this year, I found myself speaking to a room full of my colleagues, about the importance of inspiring more rangatahi to pursue STEM. A pertinent question from the audience led me to reflect on what I could personally do to inspire the next generation. With T+T’s support, I signed up to be an ambassador for the Wonder Project. I was paired with Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna in Seatoun. As a reo language learner, this was a daunting challenge. However, it provided a great opportunity to engage directly in increasing visibility of STEM to a wider group of students. While the scarcity of te reo resources was flagged as a significant barrier in teaching STEM in a Kura Kaupapa classroom, the Wonder Project team had translated all resources, allowing us to teach the course fully in Te Reo. Over six weeks of Term 2, together, we built a bottle rocket. The students' curiosity, excitement and enthusiasm for learning was infectious. Not long after our final launches, Christopher Luxon stood in front of the nation, and painted a pretty grim picture of the state of STEM education in Aotearoa. He highlighted that 76% of Year 8 pupils were lagging a year or more behind in maths, with only 8% of low-decile school students and 12% of Year 8 Māori pupils at par with curriculum standards. Christopher, myself, and no doubt many others agree – STEM education in our country desperately needs investment… That’s why I was so shocked to learn that the Wonder Project lost its funding. Christopher argues that “we won't be the world leader in agriscience, or advanced aviation, or artificial intelligence, if our kids can't do maths…". However, I would argue, it's equally important to fuel curiosity and foster excitement for STEM among our rangatahi. Because “let’s be realistic” - we don’t land on a career designing expressways in Northland or erecting wind farms in Taranaki because we “mastered the basics”… We pursue a career in STEM because science is exciting and fun! And that is why programs like the Wonder Project are so important. Let's carry forward the momentum of this awesome kaupapa, getting kids excited about STEM 🚀 https://lnkd.in/gBdacJSE
The Wonder Project needs your help 💙 Unfortunately, we're short of the funding we need to deliver our loved, impactful STEM programmes to Aotearoa schools in 2025 💔😔 Like many others, we’re feeling the effects of the current economic climate. We’ve had an incredible rōpū of organisations step up to support our mission since we lost our government funding in 2023. But we still need to raise $100,000+ to keep the wonder alive next year. How you can help 💙 Donate: Make a personal or organisational donation to our fundraising campaign. Every dollar counts. Donate now >> https://lnkd.in/gWPEdmwF 💙 Partner: Packages start at just $5k and go a long way to supporting Kiwi kids with STEM. View partnership options >> https://lnkd.in/gRdGvq7h 💙 Share: Times are tough for everyone, so if financial support isn’t for you, help us spread the word as far and wide as you can. Download shareable assets >> https://lnkd.in/ggGUNQYD We’re so grateful to our wonder community, backing impactful STEM education for rangatahi. Let’s keep the wonder alive, together.

When we talk about changing the world, we often think of monumental shifts—grand movements, revolutionary ideas. But what if the key to change was much smaller? What if it was ₹2500? For many girls in underserved communities, the path to college feels like an unreachable dream. These young women dream of becoming teachers, scientists, artists, and leaders, but financial barriers lock their potential away. At HopeWorks Foundation, we believe education is the master key to unlocking not just opportunities, but also courage, confidence, and hope. A donation of just ₹2500/- can fund a girl’s college education for an entire month. This isn’t just a donation. It’s an investment in a future where girls grow into women who break barriers, shatter ceilings, and light the way for others. So, how will you use your key today? Scan the QR to contribute. #UnlockHope #EmpowerGirls #EducationForAll #HopeWorks

Cherchez La Femme While actively cultivating donor prospects from all different socio-economic backgrounds, Eskin Fundraising Training advises our learning community partners of professional and volunteer non-profit leaders to double down efforts on the more generous gender. Women will soon have more money than men for the first time in history -- and led by MacKenzie Scott and Melinda Gates are at all levels of the economy are proving that they are more philanthropic. As we were reminded by Fortune for the first time in history, women are on the verge of controlling the majority of personal wealth. The unprecedented transfer of wealth to women is projected to reach $30 trillion in the next decade. What is unprecedented about that figure is certainly how much wealth will be transferred, but even more importantly, how women will direct that wealth. Women spend more money on their families and their households and on socially responsible products. Across income levels and generations, women are more likely to give and give more than their male counterparts. With women at the helm of financial decision-making, a future of philanthropy is projected that is collaborative, joyful, democratic, and rooted in trust.

How does your organization support youth empowerment? What programs do you offer to engage and uplift young people? Are you willing to collaborate and share your programs with the youths I work with? If so, could we schedule an appointment to discuss how we can work together? As a youth consultant ,and as a community gamechanger, I view youth engagement and empowerment as crucial tools for shaping a brighter future. My training in MIND EDUCATION by MBDGs , led by Makiko Hirano , and in SELF-AWARENESS by BE FOUNDATION, courtesy of Breda McHale , has profoundly impacted my perspective, sharpening my ambition to create an empowered generation. Additionally, I am enhancing my suitability for youth initiatives by studying digital literacy and AI, which are vital for offering vulnerable youths valuable opportunities. #Empowerment #Youths #Community #socialChange #Philanthropy #Support #NonProfit #Question #Future #Charity #Impact #SocialOrganization

Today, we (Empower All Inc.) celebrate 4 transformative years of breaking barriers and creating pathways for youth to unlock their full potential. What began with a group of friends in a "Think Tank" session—dreaming about shattering barriers and creating pathways for youth to achieve their highest potential—has grown into a movement fueled by passion, purpose, and perseverance. Inspired by our visionary leader’s (Valencia Hicks-Harris, PhD) compassion for youth + commitment to education + doctoral research on actionable ways to ignite marginalized youth’s interest in STEAM education, Empower All Inc. was born. From that moment on, we’ve been dedicated to Activating the Inner Genius of our Youth and empowering the next generation. The journey has been anything but easy, yet it has been deeply fulfilling: *We’ve faced growing pains, restructured, and kept moving forward. *Countless grant applications, numerous events, and community collaborations. *Tears as we bid farewell to Junior Board Members heading to college and Board Members moving away. *Joy as attendance at our annual summit continues to grow. *Honors through amazing awards and recognitions. *Sacrifice as we pooled personal funds to ensure the work never stopped. But through it all, one thing remains the same: our unwavering commitment to uplifting youth and our mission to Empower All. To our supporters, family, friends, and community—THANK YOU! Your encouragement fuels our work, and we are so grateful for your partnership. What’s Next? Tomorrow, December 3, 2024, is recognized globally as a Day of Giving! We encourage you to support one or more local non-profits in your area. Donations are tax-deductible, and no amount is too small—it all adds up to make a BIG impact. If you’d like to support us, we PROMISE to keep uplifting our community. Let’s work together to make this world a better place! https://lnkd.in/e4QJNeXZ Now, let’s say it together: EMPOWER ALL on 4… 1… 2… 3… 4! #EmpowerAll #4YearAnniversary #STEAMEducation #YouthEmpowerment #DayOfGiving #CommunityMatters
