With interstate closures, out-of-service rail lines and nearly 600 roads closed or impassable in the wake of Hurricane Helene, moving goods into and out of affected regions remains challenging. While the initial shock was severe — with the volume of shipments declining as much as 34% in Florida and Georgia on a week-over-week basis — we're starting to see recovery. FourKites data shows that shipments destined for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina plummeted more than 25% on a week-over-week basis in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene. By Tuesday, September 29, shipment volumes had largely recovered for the majority of states in the storm's path — with Florida seeing a 20% week-over-week increase. FourKites will continue to track the impact of tropical storms and hurricanes on global supply chain operations — make sure to follow and stay tuned for further updates. #data #HurricaneHelene #Florida #supplychain

#HurricaneHelene has escalated into a dangerous hurricane. It is anticipated that its Thursday arrival will bring life-threatening storm surges along the west coast of the Florida Peninsula and Florida Big Bend, with the highest inundations affecting the Florida Big Bend. Inundations may exceed 10 feet. Devastating, hurricane-force winds will affect northern Florida and southern Georgia as Helene’s core moves inland. Dangerous gusts may extend into the Southeastern United States, including the Southern Appalachians. Mandatory evacuations in these regions are in force. As the storm moves inland, significant crosswinds and heavy rain will impact I-10, creating dangerous driving conditions. Power outages are possible. Considerable flash and urban flooding are expected throughout Florida, the Southeast, the Southern Appalachians, and the Tennessee Valley through Friday. Additional risks in these areas include landslides and major river flooding. As the storm evolves, be sure to check on conditions at pick-up and delivery locations, as well as truck stops and tire shops. Should weather impact your travel, communicate and adjust pick-up and delivery accordingly. Hurricane Milton caused widespread destruction in Florida, knocking out electricity to over 3.4 million homes and businesses and triggering over 150 tornadoes. At least four people lost their lives, adding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene two weeks ago. Despite fears of Tampa being directly hit, Milton shifted south and made landfall near Siesta Key. As a Category 3 hurricane, Milton brought powerful winds, heavy rain, and dangerous storm surges. However, Governor Ron DeSantis said that Tampa escaped the worst-case scenario. Heavy rain was reported in some areas, but the most severe storm surges occurred in Sarasota County, where water levels rose 8 to 10 feet. Flooding was a major issue across Florida, with some areas experiencing staggering water levels. Emergency crews rescued 35 people overnight in Plant City, where floodwaters rose to unprecedented levels. Cleanup efforts are underway on Anna Maria Island, with piles of sand left by Hurricane Helene potentially shielding homes from further damage. #Florida #HurricaneMilton #Flood #USA #PowerCutOff

Hurricane Helene has left a path of devastation across the Southeastern U.S., affecting millions and causing significant disruptions in logistics and supply chains. As a Category 4 storm, Helene unleashed torrential rains, winds over 140 mph, and extensive flooding, crippling critical infrastructure from Florida to Virginia. One of the hardest-hit areas is I-40 in Tennessee and North Carolina, where substantial sections of the highway have been washed away. Road closures and power outages are escalating costs and severely hindering the movement of goods. Experts predict it may take weeks for logistics to stabilize in affected regions.

Hurricane Francine Makes Landfall in Southern Louisiana! Hurricane Francine made landfall in southern Louisiana in the Parish of Terrebonne, about 30 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, as a Category 2 storm at 5 p.m. CDT. Maximum sustained winds were estimated to be near 100 mph along with dangerous storm surge and flooding rainfall. Since Francine is transitioning to a tropical rainstorm, the center of the storm is losing importance as far as a weather-maker. More significant effects will be the outward spread of rain north and east of the center and severe thunderstorms, including possible tornadoes to the east and south of the center. The impacts of these conditions will continue into Friday. ServiceMaster Recovery Management is nearby and ready to assist now. Call (844) 993-0527.
