As an SME belonging to a charity, we couldn't achieve any of the things we do with our public sector clients without our amazing and hardworking team. That includes our board of directors, who give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis. In the first of a new series on our blog, Sally Bracegirdle chats to Anna Scott-Trimble, one of our non-executive directors, to find out more about her and what brought her to SocietyWorks. From global development and human rights, to journalism and user-centred design, Anna brings so much experience to SocietyWorks that helps us to provide the best possible service and technology to the councils and other public sector bodies we work with - we're very lucky to have her! A huge thank you to Anna for speaking to us and sharing her story! 🙏 There's a link to our conversation with Anna in the comments. 👇 Keep an eye out for more conversations coming up in 2025!

What does it mean to cultivate a legacy? At Africatown Community Land Trust (ACLT), this question has guided our mission since our establishment in 2016. It is rooted in the history, struggles, and triumphs of Seattle’s Black community. For us, cultivating a legacy means building more than a foundation—it’s about creating spaces where equity, ownership, and opportunity are not just ideas but everyday realities. Cultivating a legacy means honoring the rich stories and contributions of our community while laying the groundwork filled with the promise of a better, more sustainable future. It’s the reason behind spaces like Africatown Plaza, which centers Black families and and individuals. It’s the driving force of programs at the William Grose Center, fostering education, technology, and entrepreneurship. And it’s the heart of the work we do at Benu Community Home, offering not just shelter but dignity and hope for men rebuilding their lives. As we look ahead to a bold vision, we see a future where Seattle’s Black community is thriving and integral to the city’s success. But to make that future a reality, we need your help. This year’s End-of-Year Campaign - Cultivating Legacy, Together - aims to raise $500,000 to sustain and grow ACLT’s transformative projects and create even more opportunities for our communities Your contribution fuels progress hat sustains and enables growth. It ensures spaces like Africatown Plaza continue to thrive, expands programming at the William Grose Center, and supports culturally responsive services at Benu Community Home. It invests in a more inclusive Seattle where everyone benefits from the strength and vibrancy of a thriving Black community. Join us in cultivating a legacy that transforms lives and builds a brighter future for generations to come. To transform how your community engages with you and your work, consider listening before you act. In 2019 and 2020, Mission Partners served as the messaging and communications partner for NewsMatch—the largest grassroots fundraising campaign designed to support nonprofit news in the U.S. Through research, collaborative strategizing, and community listening, their fundraising goals exceeded the years prior despite the pandemic and politically charged attacks on the free press. Sustain Pathways to Progress for Black Youth This Giving Tuesday! At the CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals, we’ve made incredible strides this year, strengthening our foundation and expanding opportunities for Black youth across Canada. 85% of our program graduates remain employed long after completion—proof that investing in Black youth benefits not only individuals but also the broader economy. Our 5-Year Strategic Plan focuses on deepening impact and stability. However, with program costs at $15,000 per participant, essential services like therapy, meals, and transportation remain underfunded. This Giving Tuesday, we’re aiming to raise $150,000 to: 🔹 Sustain life-changing programs. 🔹 Support the next generation of leaders and innovators. 🔹 Ensure long-term success through our ambitious strategic plan. Your contribution fuels the success, hope, and resilience of Black youth, creating opportunities that ripple across generations. Will you join us in making this vision a reality? Donate Now! Together, we can create lasting change. Let’s make this Giving Tuesday count. #GivingTuesday #SupportBlackYouth #CareerOpportunities #BlackExcellence #EquityInAction #CEEPathways

All participating institutions get robust report and analysis on your institution's results AND first look at the larger report/results. Literally, no downside to this besides pulling a list. Please spread the word, ping me with any questions and make sure your institution is included in this important research that will inform ALL our work.
We invite you to participate in RNL’s Fall 2024 National Alumni Survey. This represents the second year of the research study—and is fully funded by Ruffalo Noel Levitz. Howard Heevner M.Ed. and I are excited about round two of this project. It’s a great opportunity to reach out, listen, and learn more about alumni passions and philanthropic priorities (volunteering and giving), communication / channel preferences, and the engagement activities likely to strengthen connection.
