Something that inspires me daily is to hear and see women elevated into positions of leadership. Women are still often overlooked for positions of power and influence, but there are examples of leaders, and it is rewarding to see their impact. At this point in my career, I regularly mentor women and encourage the next generation of leaders to step up, accept, and find their next influential role. I've come to understand that fostering women's leadership is not about addressing a gender imbalance, it's about unlocking the full potential of teams and organizations. When women lead, they bring unique insights, empathy, and resilience that can steer companies through challenging times and toward groundbreaking innovations. Here are takeaways from 2024: - Innovation and inclusion are woven together in most successful innovation cultures - Mentoring is bi-directional. When I mentor someone, I take away as much as they do - Embracing curiosity about what is possible is as important as any other skill. What is your leadership opportunity? How do you have an impact? Are you asking for help in your next challenge? Are you taking the risk that will get you to where you want? I encourage you to take risks and embrace your next challenge.

It's 2024, and only 24% of women make high-potential leadership pools at top companies. We need more women in leadership. And here's why: Over the years, I’ve had the honor of coaching incredible women, and helping them step into their power as leaders. There’s something truly inspiring about a woman who not only leads but does so with authenticity, empathy, and strength. ✨Women’s leadership development is more than just a buzzword—it’s a movement. It’s about creating spaces where women can lead in ways that feel true to who they are. It’s about breaking down the old stereotypes that say leadership looks a certain way and embracing the diverse, innovative, and dynamic styles that women bring to the table. 💡Think about the leaders who’ve made an impact on you. Chances are, they led with more than just authority—they led with heart, vision, and the ability to bring out the best in others. That’s the kind of leadership we need more of, and it’s the kind of leadership women excel at. 🫶When women step into leadership roles, they bring a unique perspective that can transform teams, organizations, and entire industries. They foster environments where collaboration thrives, where different voices are heard, and where innovation is born from diversity. As we continue to push for more women in leadership, let’s also focus on nurturing the qualities that make women exceptional leaders. Let’s encourage each other to lead boldly, to embrace our strengths, and to challenge the norms that have held us back for too long. The future is bright, and it’s filled with women who are ready to lead. Let’s continue to support each other on this journey, and let’s redefine what leadership looks like—together. Ladies, how do you cultivate your leadership skills? Let’s share our experiences and inspire one another! #womeninleadership #womenforwomen #leadershipdevelopment #icfcoach

We are so proud that all 9 of our chapters across the country are led by women. With their incredible collaborative leadership they are all able to tend to their chapter’s unique needs. Did you know gender-diversity in leadership can lead to better decision-making, innovation, and overall organizational performance? Why? Embracing diversity in leadership allows organizations (like ours) to leverage a broader range of talents and perspectives. Although it’s important to note that effective leadership qualities are not inherently tied to gender but rather to individual characteristics, skills, and experiences. So, women may exhibit higher levels of empathy and emotional intelligence, which can enhance communication, team cohesion, and conflict resolution within organizations. 4 more days until #InternationalWomen’sDay!

The Power of Women in Leadership 🌟 Last week, PMI hosted an inspiring webinar as part of the #WomenInspirationNetwork, featuring award-winning filmmaker Donna Zaccaro Over 300 attendees joined for a reflective conversation on leadership. In conversation with Marie-Pauline Lauret Donna shared powerful insights on how influential women have shaped her views, the importance of women supporting each other, and what it means to be a positive leader. Here are some key takeaways: 1️⃣ The more voices and perspectives you hear, the stronger your arguments and outcomes will be. 2️⃣ Ask your team what they need and how your role can support them in reaching their goals. 3️⃣ Be helpful. Mentor, support, and uplift others in their careers. 4️⃣ Be mindful of biases—people are still judged by appearance, voice, or behavior. Ambition and assertiveness are often misunderstood. 5️⃣ Stay aware of how others are responding to you and adjust accordingly. As we work toward building more balanced organizations, Donna also emphasized the crucial role male colleagues play in supporting women. Promoting diverse voices in meetings and vensuring women are included in discussions are key steps. 🧠 Building self-confidence? It happens one step at a time. Embrace positive feedback, seek evaluation and growth, and consistently put yourself out there! Let others know about your achievements. This session was truly inspiring and left us with actionable reflections to incorporate into our daily leadership practices. Does this resonate with you? 🤔 👉 Let’s continue the conversation! Share your thoughts or experiences on positive leadership and how we can all foster more inclusive workplaces. 💬 Thank you Marian Salzman #Leadership #PositiveLeadership #WomenInLeadership #Mentorship #InclusiveLeadership #CareerGrowth #DiversityAndInclusion #SelfConfidence #PMI #LeadershipDevelopment #GrowthMindset #LeadershipTips

International Women’s Day 2024! The United Nations decided that the International Women’s day theme for 2024 should be ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ – specifically aimed at tackling economic disempowerment. Meanwhile, the campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ So, there’s no better time for me to share a useful article that debunks some of the more common myths that can be both damaging and unhelpful to your leadership, and perpetuate the imbalance of women in leadership positions around the globe. In my women’s leadership coaching practice, I come across a number of self-limiting beliefs and/or myths that women (introverts and people from certain cultures) hold about leadership. For example: “leaders must have all the answers,” or “my work should speak for itself," or “networking and visibility” is not part of a leader’s job. lt's important that these misconceptions are surfaced, updated and/or replaced. Leadership is all about relationship and connection. At it’s essence it’s about facilitating, orchestrating, empowering so that the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. It’s about leveraging and unleashing expertise and excellence. And it’s also about creating and expanding relationships to achieve, access and create more value, opportunity and leaders. In this piece, 10 Women’s Leadership Myths Debunked, I pulled together the most frequently expressed misconceptions in hopes of putting these outdated stories to bed so you can write new ones about you and your leadership. https://lnkd.in/eDi8ncY7 Happy International Women’s Day! #womenleaders #leadership development #leadershipmyths #IWD2024

🌟 Elevating Women's Voices in Leadership 🌟 With Dr. Carol Gill and Isabel Metz, I've embarked on a research project to delve deep into women’s leadership identity. Over the past few weeks, I have been interviewing over 30 alumni from the Melbourne Business School Women in Leadership Programs. We're uncovering the essence of what makes a leader truly great. These discussions have been nothing short of inspiring, filling me with hope for the future of leadership. Here are some high-level themes that have emerged: 🤖 "Humans not robots" - The hallmark of exceptional leadership is the balance between empathy and accountability. It starts with self-awareness: acknowledging one's mistakes, owning them, and sharing lessons learned for future betterment. This principle extends to how we lead teams and individuals, fostering an environment where empathy and accountability coexist. 🎧 Sensemaking and Active Listening - The ability to deeply understand people and situations, and to distill and communicate the essence of what is important, is crucial. There's wisdom in the idea that if you can't summarise your message in 10 words or less, you're not ready to share it. Great leaders are adept at making complex information accessible and meaningful to everyone. 💗 Growth Mindset - A leader's capacity to see potential in others before they see it in themselves and to empower them to grow is transformative. Embracing a growth mindset—for themselves, others, and the organisation—is about moving beyond mistakes and failures to focus on development and progress. ⬆ Clarity of Purpose - Inspiring leadership goes beyond motivation through fear; it's about connecting people to a shared purpose. This purpose isn't dictated but developed collectively, creating a strong sense of commitment and direction. 🚀 A Call to Action Investing in women's leadership development is not just beneficial; it's essential for cultivating great leadership. I urge leaders this week of International Women's Day to engage with their stakeholders in defining what great leadership means to them. Use these insights as a springboard for self-reflection and growth. By investing in women and leadership development, we're investing in a brighter, more inclusive future for all. #LeadershipDevelopment #WomenInLeadership #GrowthMindset #EmpathyInLeadership #PurposeDrivenLeadership #FutureOfLeadership

Women leaders are as ambitious as men, but at many companies, they face headwinds that signal it will be harder to advance. They're more likely to experience belittling microaggressions, such as having their judgement questioned or being mistaken for some more junior. They're doing more to support employee well-being and foster inclusion, but this critical work is spreading them thin and mostly unrewarded. And finally, it's increasingly important to women leaders that they work for companies that prioritize flexibility, employee well-being, and diversity, equity and inclusion. If companies don't take action on it, they risk losing not only their current women leaders but also the next generation of women leaders.
