International Women’s Day 2024! The United Nations decided that the International Women’s day theme for 2024 should be ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ – specifically aimed at tackling economic disempowerment. Meanwhile, the campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ So, there’s no better time for me to share a useful article that debunks some of the more common myths that can be both damaging and unhelpful to your leadership, and perpetuate the imbalance of women in leadership positions around the globe. In my women’s leadership coaching practice, I come across a number of self-limiting beliefs and/or myths that women (introverts and people from certain cultures) hold about leadership. For example: “leaders must have all the answers,” or “my work should speak for itself," or “networking and visibility” is not part of a leader’s job. lt's important that these misconceptions are surfaced, updated and/or replaced. Leadership is all about relationship and connection. At it’s essence it’s about facilitating, orchestrating, empowering so that the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. It’s about leveraging and unleashing expertise and excellence. And it’s also about creating and expanding relationships to achieve, access and create more value, opportunity and leaders. In this piece, 10 Women’s Leadership Myths Debunked, I pulled together the most frequently expressed misconceptions in hopes of putting these outdated stories to bed so you can write new ones about you and your leadership. https://lnkd.in/eDi8ncY7 Happy International Women’s Day! #womenleaders #leadership development #leadershipmyths #IWD2024

The Power of Women in Leadership 🌟 Last week, PMI hosted an inspiring webinar as part of the #WomenInspirationNetwork, featuring award-winning filmmaker Donna Zaccaro Over 300 attendees joined for a reflective conversation on leadership. In conversation with Marie-Pauline Lauret Donna shared powerful insights on how influential women have shaped her views, the importance of women supporting each other, and what it means to be a positive leader. Here are some key takeaways: 1️⃣ The more voices and perspectives you hear, the stronger your arguments and outcomes will be. 2️⃣ Ask your team what they need and how your role can support them in reaching their goals. 3️⃣ Be helpful. Mentor, support, and uplift others in their careers. 4️⃣ Be mindful of biases—people are still judged by appearance, voice, or behavior. Ambition and assertiveness are often misunderstood. 5️⃣ Stay aware of how others are responding to you and adjust accordingly. As we work toward building more balanced organizations, Donna also emphasized the crucial role male colleagues play in supporting women. Promoting diverse voices in meetings and vensuring women are included in discussions are key steps. 🧠 Building self-confidence? It happens one step at a time. Embrace positive feedback, seek evaluation and growth, and consistently put yourself out there! Let others know about your achievements. This session was truly inspiring and left us with actionable reflections to incorporate into our daily leadership practices. Does this resonate with you? 🤔 👉 Let’s continue the conversation! Share your thoughts or experiences on positive leadership and how we can all foster more inclusive workplaces. 💬 Thank you Marian Salzman #Leadership #PositiveLeadership #WomenInLeadership #Mentorship #InclusiveLeadership #CareerGrowth #DiversityAndInclusion #SelfConfidence #PMI #LeadershipDevelopment #GrowthMindset #LeadershipTips

Investing Time Empowering Woman Executives !! I've have the unique opportunity to work closely with both the core team members and our executives. These women are the backbone of our operations, driving innovation and efficiency on the ground. By investing in their development and confidence, we’re not only enhancing their leadership capabilities but also paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable workplace. While aligning with our core team is crucial for driving day-to-day success, I’ve learned that spending time with our executives is equally, if not more, impactful. When we, as leaders, dedicate time to our executives, we do more than just share knowledge. We empower them. 📍 We’re providing the support and clarity they need to face the unique challenges of a factory environment and a culture where their voices are heard and valued. This, in turn, equips them to lead their teams with renewed conviction and drive the innovation needed to stay ahead in today’s competitive market. 📌 In my experience, executives who feel supported and valued are not just more effective—they become true champions of the company’s vision. They inspire their teams, make informed decisions, and help propel the entire organization forward. In a fast-paced business environment, it’s vital to ensure that every leader feels empowered and confident. ✅ The time you spend with them is an investment in the future success of your company. #Leadership #ExecutiveSupport #BrandManagement #Empowerment #GrowthMindset

The Evolving Landscape of Women’s Leadership: What’s Next? The conversation around women’s leadership has never been more exciting or relevant. One of the most powerful shifts I’ve seen recently is the rise of adaptive leadership—the ability to navigate uncertainty, embrace change, and inspire others through complexity. Over the last five years, the game has truly changed for women in leadership. We’ve seen greater recognition of the value women bring to the table, especially in areas like empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence. These strengths have become not just desirable but essential in guiding organizations through challenging times. Think about how women-led businesses and countries handled the pandemic—they set new benchmarks for what leadership looks like. But let’s be real—there are still challenges. For years, women faced structural and cultural barriers that hindered growth, from unequal access to mentorship to outdated biases about what leadership “should” look like. Even today, balancing professional ambitions with societal expectations remains a struggle for many. The good news? Those barriers are starting to crack. With more women embracing their authentic leadership styles and workplaces becoming more inclusive, the future feels promising. But there’s more work to do. How do we equip women with the skills to keep pushing boundaries—whether it’s mastering negotiation, cultivating a strong personal brand, or confidently leading through change? I’d love to hear your thoughts: What do you see as the most critical leadership skill or skills for women in the years ahead? And what shifts have you noticed in recent years? Let’s keep the conversation going and inspire one another! #WomensLeadership #AdaptiveLeadership #EmotionalIntelligence #BreakingBarriers

Women leaders are as ambitious as men, but at many companies, they face headwinds that signal it will be harder to advance. They're more likely to experience belittling microaggressions, such as having their judgement questioned or being mistaken for some more junior. They're doing more to support employee well-being and foster inclusion, but this critical work is spreading them thin and mostly unrewarded. And finally, it's increasingly important to women leaders that they work for companies that prioritize flexibility, employee well-being, and diversity, equity and inclusion. If companies don't take action on it, they risk losing not only their current women leaders but also the next generation of women leaders. Here are a few facts about women in leadership: 💡 The Glass Cliff: Research shows that women are more likely to be appointed to leadership positions during times of crisis. This phenomenon, known as the "glass cliff," means that women often step into roles with higher risks and challenges. According to a study published in the British Journal of Management, women are more frequently chosen to lead struggling organizations compared to their male counterparts. 💡Leadership Effectiveness: A 2019 study by Harvard Business Review found that women were rated as more effective leaders compared to men. Women scored higher in 84% of the competencies that drive leadership effectiveness, such as taking initiative and resilience. 💡 Gender Bias and Barriers: A 2020 Catalyst study found that 60% of women leaders reported facing higher scrutiny and harsher criticism than their male counterparts. This suggests that women in leadership often have to overcome significant gender bias and barriers.

Breaking the Mold: Leadership Has No Gender—Why Diverse Leadership is Key to Innovation and Success Diving into LinkedIn, the landscape is striking: a sea of leadership still predominantly reflecting the same faces, the same gender, predominantly men. It’s 2024, and the conversation about gender diversity in leadership roles continues. 🔄 But here's the kicker – leadership knows no gender. The unique qualities needed to inspire, to drive success, and to innovate can be found in every individual, across the entire spectrum of humanity. So why does this disparity persist on our professional platforms, in our boardrooms, in the very fabric of our leadership narratives? The answer isn’t simple, nor is it easy to address overnight. But it begins with acknowledging that achieving a gender-diverse leadership isn’t just about adding seats to the table; it’s about recognizing the inherent value and perspective each unique voice brings to that table. 🌈 As a Transformational Leadership Coach, my role is to ignite this conversation, to challenge the status quo, and to create spaces where potential leaders, regardless of gender, can thrive and lead with authenticity. It’s not just about coaching women; it’s about enriching the leadership canvas with the diverse strengths, insights, and visions everyone brings to it. Let’s broaden our understanding of what leadership looks like, moving beyond stereotypes and embracing the diverse spectrum of leadership styles and approaches that truly represent our societal fabric. Because when we do, we don’t just change the narrative; we change the game. 💡 What’s your take on the current state of leadership diversity? Have you seen positive changes in your sphere? Share your reflections and let’s keep pushing this crucial conversation forward. #LeadershipDiversity #ChangeTheNarrative #InclusiveLeadership
