Neglect constitutes to almost 70% of the reasons children enter foster care. Neglect often stems from systemic issues such as poverty, lack of access to resources, and social isolation. Family separations also disproportionately impact families of color (Kim, 2021). By addressing the root causes of neglect, we can prevent unnecessary family separation and keep children with their families where they belong. Join us on April 8, 2024, for our seminar day entitled "Empowering Communities: Innovative Strategies for Preventing and Responding to Child Neglect," as we explore the prevalence and intersectionality of poverty and neglect while building a shared understanding on how we can support families overloaded by stress. The majority of children in Foster Care are over the age of 8, with a notable prevalence of boys compared to girls. 💭 This demographic trend highlights a critical need within the Foster System for families who are ready and willing to open their homes to older children and teenagers, who often find it harder to secure permanent placements. 🙏 Additionally, the higher number of boys in the system further emphasizes the demand for Foster Families that can provide a supportive and nurturing environment specifically for male foster children. 💡 For more information regarding Foster Care, including how to become a Foster Family, please reach out to us at https://bit.ly/LVAHome, today. 💛 #LoftusVergariAndAssociates #LVA #NEPA #FosterCare #FAQs #Info #FosterStatistics

An estimated 377,000 children are living in foster care. This staggering number is a measure of how we as a nation are faring in our responsibility to ensure that every child in every community has the opportunity to grow up in their own family connected to the people, places, and cultures that will help them thrive. This Casey Family report (https://buff.ly/45V6kj2) shares examples of how communities are actively partnering with families to build the foundations of a better approach, how they are using new tools and approaches to better address the needs of families and children, and how they are investing effectively to ensure thriving families, safer children, and supportive communities. #PeerTA #TANF #TA #TechnicalAssistance #OFA #ACF #HumanServices #SocialServices #Families #Community #Equity #Culture #Outcomes #Investment #FosterCare

80% of children we recover from s*x traf*icking are in foster care without family support. Every year more than 20,000 teens will age out of foster care without any family support. Up to 80% of these girls will become victims of human trafficking without family support. 20% of the teenagers who age out will become instantly homeless. It would take less than .02% of US households to support all of these children. We can do this. Freedpeople.org

Have you ever considered how social conditions can lead to foster care involvement?⚖️ Poverty, underfunded schools, under-resourced communities, and heavy police presence are just a few of many hardships that foster youth often face. California Assemblymember Isaac Bryan argues that foster care is “one of the largest drivers of inequality in society.” He notes that it’s not a coincidence that the same communities with high numbers of children in foster care are the same communities that suffer from these social inequalities. Bryan suggests that by redesigning our communities to be more equitable, we can positively impact the lives of foster youth and families and prevent system involvement in the first place. #Every child deserves the safety, security, and unconditional love that only a permanent family can provide. Yet, every year in the United States, about 20,000 young people #age #out of foster care without achieving this essential permanence. These youth, left to navigate life on their own, face significant challenges, including #higher #risks of homelessness, joblessness, early parenthood, and substance use. This is a #reality we cannot ignore. When we #support efforts to provide lasting, loving homes for older youth in foster care, we change the trajectory of their lives, offering them the stability they need to #thrive. Let’s #work #together to ensure no child leaves foster care without the security of a family. Whether through adoption, mentorship, or community support, each of us can play a role in making sure these young people have the foundation they #deserve. #Help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 in the month of August: https://lnkd.in/eGxQYYrm #Join #us in this critical mission to provide forever families for all children. To understand ĒMA, we must first recognize the crisis at hand. We’re here to help mothers in crisis achieve lasting stability for their families. The reality is, many children enter the foster care system due to preventable issues like financial instability, rather than abuse or abandonment. While such cases exist, the statistics are clear: there are countless mothers in our communities who lack the resources to support themselves and their children. This is where ĒMA comes in. Our mission is to equip, empower, and educate mothers to set them up for lasting success. Discover more about the crisis and our approach in this insightful article by our CEO and Founder, Charlee Tchividjian. https://lnkd.in/eexVeY9T #ĒMA #EMA #EveryMothersAdvocate #MotherAdvocacy #fostercareprevention #reunifyfamilies #sustainablemission #breakingthecycle #reframingfostercare #preservefamilies

The magnitude of this crisis can feel overwhelming, but your workplace can make a difference by taking the FosterMore pledge to become a #fostercarefriendly workplace and providing flexibility to accommodate the needs of foster families. Youth, families, and communities thrive when they are able to seek support without fear of punishment or harm. ProPublica explores the troubling trend, this time in Georgia, of placing children in foster care instead of providing housing assistance to their families. This approach not only separates families, but also costs more than providing them support to stay together. It's time to rethink priorities and invest in solutions that keep families united and supported. A must-read for those advocating for compassionate, family-centered policies. #RethinkChildWelfare https://lnkd.in/eYy9qi7z
