The Space Force’s acquisition arm has tapped defense technology firm Anduril to upgrade the service’s Space Surveillance Network (SSN) with enhanced autonomous networking capabilities, the company announced Thursday. Under the five-year, $99.7 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract, Anduril will integrate its Lattice software into the SSN to create a mesh network that will enable autonomous processing and distribution of data from the architecture’s vast network of military space sensors. U.S. Space Command has directed the firm to complete deploying the capability by the end of 2026, according to a company press release. https://lnkd.in/eH2WkzyP

⭐ Featured Session in the BRAND NEW Via Satellite Theater in the Exhibit Hall at #SATShow ⭐ One of U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall's seven operational imperatives is to achieve moving target indication (MTI) at scale against technologically advanced adversaries. The Department of the Air Force is examining doing both, at least partly, from space--the first effort being a cooperative one with the NRO to develop a ground moving target indication space-based radar to replace the Joint STARS aircraft. How might DoD and the intelligence community harness commercial capacity for MTI? Is there a market for commercial MTI, and, if so, how might DoD and the intelligence community harness that market for national security? Our future in the space domain is about agility and adaptability. Unlike the other traditional operating domains, the space domain provides a unique set of challenges. Commander Space Command, MAJGEN Novak elaborated on this concept at the 17th Australian Space Forum hosted by @The Andy Thomas Space Foundation, sharing with representatives of Australian and international space industry and academia Space Command’s key focus areas following the release of the 2024 National Defence Strategy (NDS) and 2024 Integrated Investment Program (IIP). Resilience and readiness are central to Defence’s approach to the space domain, and realisation of Defence’s Space Strategy. Under MAJGEN Novak’s guidance, Space Command is working to enhance how Defence operates in and through the space domain by focusing on integrating force operations, force generation, building our space workforce, modernisation and capability uplift. The NDS and the IIP amplify the initiatives and priorities for our space workforce, bringing a greater focus to the critical capabilities that they deliver for the ADF. Space remains a team sport - collaboration with industry and our allies and partners will continue to be a key part of delivering on our priorities, developing our space workforce, enhancing military relationships, and improving tactical interoperability. #SpacePower #SpaceDomain #17AustralianSpaceForum #17ASF #SpaceIndustry #SpaceInnovation #YourADF

In a rapidly evolving global landscape, the UK’s focus on enhancing its space capabilities is more crucial than ever. Insights from our senior executives during the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 shed light on this important development. Robert Lightfoot and Nik Smith emphasised the need for resilience in space infrastructure. This resilience ensures that both military and civilian services remain uninterrupted, safeguarding critical operations on Earth. The advancements in space technology not only bolster national defence but also enhance civilian applications, highlighting the interconnectedness of these domains. As the UK strengthens its position in space, it sets a precedent for other nations to follow. #ResillienceinSpace

Quantum Technologies for Air and Space I read this morning a short and easy to understand article about quantum use cases and timelines related to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The paper was written to inform strategic leaders and defence planners of the realistic expectations for quantum technologies. https://shorturl.at/isyv4 Abstract Dr. Michal Krelina and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Dubravcik explore the practical military applications of quantum technologies in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). They discuss cutting-edge quantum imaging systems, sensors such as gravimeters and magnetometers, and how these tools can revolutionize battlefield awareness and navigation in GPS-denied environments. With NATO recently adopting a Quantum Technology Strategy, the authors outline timelines for implementation and the significant operational advantages these advancements promise for the Alliance. I do forgive the authors who fail to mention the only way these technologies are introduced is through project teams! Dr Ashkan Memari and I wrote "Quantum Cybersecurity Program Management" with Business Expert Press and it is available for pre-order It's a great time to be in project management. #projectmanagement #projectmanager #defence #PQC #PNT #IRS #quantumsensing #CISO #cybersecurityawareness

Vertx just released its third guide, highlighting five more companies making a significant impact in U.S. military technology. Among them is Syntonics LLC, a company that has revolutionized military communications. Let’s explore how their advancements are transforming the field. 📻 👇 Syntonics, a Maryland-based company, revolutionized military communications with its Fiber Optic Remote Antenna eXtension (FORAX) system, which was funded by a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) from U.S. SOCOM. This “RF-over-Fiber” technology enhances secure military intelligence. The company later developed the High Antennas for Radio Communications (HARC) system, improving urban patrol communications. Today, HARC is a lifesaver, enabling quicker decisions on the battlefield. For more success stories, go to: https://buff.ly/4doTOLD #Innovation #Technology #SBIR #STTR
