Leveling up! ✅ Swedavia continues strengthen its position as a global leader in aviation’s decarbonisation with Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Ronneby Airport achieving Level 5, the highest level in the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme. With this achievement, four of Swedavia’s ten airports now hold the highest level of climate certification, following Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Malmö Airport which reached Level 5 in December 2023. Swedavia’s remaining six airports are striving to reach the top certification level by 2026.   “It is very gratifying that with the certification of Arlanda and Ronneby, Swedavia has now four of its ten airports certified at the highest level within the Airport Carbon Accreditation framework. This shows that we continue to lead the way and have chosen to invest in aviation’s necessary climate transition for sustainable air travel. This certification is the result of our long-term efforts, where we have taken a holistic approach to the entire ecosystem of the airports and also involved our partners in the transition. As part of the Arcadis Program Delivery team, I just attended a fantastic session at the Australian Airports Association National Conference featuring Raechel Paris and Tiana Wetzel from Brisbane Airport Corporation. Their insights into the airport's growth, sustainability, and community-first approach were truly inspiring. Brisbane Airport, as Australia's most connected domestic airport, is making waves not just in aviation but in sustainability and regional development. Raechel and Tiana highlighted the airport's Future BNE program, a $5 billion investment aimed at supporting the growth of South East Queensland while prioritising sustainability and innovation. Some highlights: Economic Impact: Contributing $4.7 billion in GDP annually and supporting over 20,000 workers, with 10,000 more to come. Sustainability Commitments: Achieving net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by January 2025, and ambitious targets for 2030, including zero waste to landfill and 50% recycled water usage. A Holistic Vision: Guided by their "Strategic Brief 2050," Brisbane Airport is aligning its operations with long-term goals to grow responsibly and sustainably while engaging employees, communities, and stakeholders. It’s inspiring to see how Brisbane Airport’s Head of Sustainability, Jessica King and the entire team at BAC are leading the way as a sustainable airport city, focusing on trust, transparency, and shared value creation.
