Sandvik books in major order from Evolution Mining for Australian mines Sandvik has received a major underground mining equipment order from Australian-based Evolution Mining. The order was booked in the second quarter and valued at approximately SEK 300 million. Deliveries are scheduled through Q2 2025. The order includes Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ advanced #underground #loaders (#LHDs), #trucks and development #drills, to be implemented in different mines in Australia. “We are very pleased that we continue to be a trusted partner to Evolution Mining and that we strengthen our partnership further as they renew big part of their fleet,” says Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions. Evolution’s principal underground operations in Australia are the recently acquired #Northparkes (80%) #copper-#gold mine in NSW, the #ErnestHenry (100%) copper-gold mine in #Queensland, and the #Mungari (100%) gold mine in #WesternAustralia. Sandvik will deliver #Toro™ #TH663i trucks and Toro™ #LH621i loaders to optimise operational efficiency and support ongoing mine development initiatives at Ernest Henry. Mungari Operations will receive Toro™ TH663i and Toro™ TH551i trucks, Toro™ #LH517i loaders and two Sandvik #DD422i development drills. Evolution is also integrating a Toro™ #LH514 loader into the Northparkes fleet. The life expectancy of Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) will end by 2042, following the company has successfully renewed its Special Mining Lease (SML) 1 (0), gaining an additional 20-year lease term from 2022 to 2042. This is the second SML 1 (0) lease term extension for OTML. The initial SML 1 (0) lease, granted in 1981 expired in May 2002 and was extended for another 20 years until its expiration in 2022. An application for the renewal of the SML 1 (0) and associated leases for mining purposes in compliance with the Mining Act 1992 provisions was lodged with the Mineral Resources Authority on Monday December 20th, 2021 resulting in the current extension grant. The SML 1 (0) lease renewal includes renewal of 22 Lease for Mining Purposes (LMP) and two (2) Mining Easement which are tied to the term of SML 1 (0). The 24 ancillary leases hosts supporting infrastructure for the mining operations while the SML 1(0) lease is the host area for active mining and milling operations activities. While speaking at the SML 1 Presentation event at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby on Tuesday, April 23rd, OTML Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kedi Ilimbit thanked all stakeholders involved in furnishing the extension of the SML 1(0) citing OTML’s gratitude and excitement in continuing to explore opportunities for sustainable resource development in the region while also providing social and economic benefits to its impact communities and the country. ”OTML remains committed to fulfilling our environmental, legal, and social obligations, maintaining positive relationships with the communities impacted by our operations, and securing the social license to operate, which is vital for our ongoing success,” Mr Ilimbit said in a media statement. Ok Tedi bolsters mining fleet with large Cat 995 wheel loader #Copper-#gold miner Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) has launched at its operations in #Tabubil a first and largest of its kind for #PapuaNewGuinea Caterpillar Inc. 995 Large #WheelLoader (LWL), which is also only the second of this model to have been delivered in the Pacific region. The Cat 995 LWL was purchased earlier this year from Hastings Deering, the Caterpillar equipment dealer, to increase production capacity and meet the growing demands of the industry market. OTML Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kedi Ilimbit said that the purchase of the latest edition of the front wheel loader will add to the company’s fleet of mining equipment, which already includes a wide range of cutting-edge machinery. “The Cat Mining 995 is up to 23% more productive than the Cat 994 Wheel Loader, while the company has been using the smaller Cat 993 loader for almost four decades. Cat 995 has a more powerful engine, higher-rated payload, and efficient hydraulic system that allows for fast cycle times and higher production which is efficient for our operations,” said Ilimbit. Operational Update - Cloncurry Copper Project Wallace North is mine ready and survey set-out to the mine footprint. Our Mining Operations Team have undertaken significant mining preparation to facilitate TNC to commence mining ore at Wallace North in early Q4 FY24. Mining preparation at Wallace North progressed in March 2024 (as access and mine areas dried after monsoonal rainfall events in February and early March) including the following: - Mobilisation of mining equipment and support infrastructure to the Wallace North project site. - Preparation of existing access and haulage roads for upcoming mining activities. - Completion of short-term mine scheduling by technical service teams. - Onboarding of skilled mining fleet operators. The mining ramp-up will initially build ore stockpiles, with haulage expected to start in mid-May 2024. Oxide ore will be transported by road train to the Cloncurry Operations Hub's heap leach. Sulphide ore will be transported to a nearby concentrator for toll treatment under TNC's toll-milling agreement with Glencore. Epiroc wins large mining equipment order in Australia Epiroc Stockholm, Sweden: Epiroc, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and construction industries, has won a large order for surface mining equipment from Newmont Corp. in Australia.  Newmont, the world’s leading gold producer, has ordered a fleet of Epiroc Pit Viper 231 and SmartROC D65 drill rigs that will be used at the Boddington gold and copper mine in Western Australia. The rigs, which will be operated tele-remotely, will replace an older fleet of Epiroc equipment. The equipment order is valued at about MSEK 335 and was booked in the third quarter 2024. Epiroc will also provide service on the machines. “We have a long-standing partnership with Newmont, which is on the forefront of advanced mining operations,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “We are happy to support them as they continue to make their operations as safe and productive as possible.” Chris Dark, Newmont’s General Manager for the Boddington mine site, says: “Newmont and Epiroc have had a long-term relationship on the Boddington site. This order recognizes and continues this successful relationship that has enabled the success of the Boddington drilling operations over the life of the mine. The securities law firm Glancy Prongay & Murray LLP launched an investigation into Compass Minerals for potential federal securities law violations.
