INNOVATION PROJECT RESULT: City of Tallinn Pilots Waste Container Digitalization! 🌟 Exciting Innovation! 🌟 The City of Tallinn's #TestinTallinn framework recently piloted a smart sensor project for waste containers, collaborating with ibiot/Cleanhand OÜ and KeKo - Tallinn Urban Environment and Public Works Department. Here are the highlights: 📊 Data-Driven Waste Collection: 100 public waste containers were digitalized, revealing that 85.7% were emptied at less than 50% capacity. This data suggests that fill level-based collection could save 50% in costs and reduce the environmental footprint. 🌍💰 🚀 Tech Advancements: The project led to the development of a new, weatherproof sensor with a double-capacity power source, lasting up to 5 years. 🌦️🔋 💡 Broader Applications: Knowledge from this project spurred the creation of sensors for monitoring wastewater and public toilet usage in Tallinn. 🏞️🚾 🤝 Future Collaborations: The success has piqued interest from neighboring countries, opening doors for further partnerships for Ibiot. 🌐🤝 #testintallinn #smarttallinn #WasteManagement #tallinnovation Project results and final report 👇 bit.ly/4bPiITA (in Estonian). Introducing FOREMAST Living Lab 2: Caen and Le Havre 🇫🇷 Unlocking the future of inland waterway logistics in Caen, France! ⚓🌿 Living Lab 2 in Caen will explore remote-controlled sailing in real-life conditions. Situated along the River Orne and connected to the English Channel by the Caen to the Sea Canal, the city benefits from an intricate network of canals, locks, and industrial ports that support maritime transport and commerce. This waterway infrastructure is central to Caen’s economy, particularly in logistics and transportation. 🚢 Innovations to be demonstrated: 🚀 Automated vessel operations ⚡ Zero-emissions propulsion systems 🌊 Modal shift from road to inland waterways for efficient freight movement Meanwhile, Le Havre is taking on an equally important role by offering an estuary environment to test the design of a coastal barge and address the regulatory differences between inland and maritime transport. It was an incredible experience to attend the “Unveiling Mammoth” on May 7, 2024, in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Sustainable Markets Initiative kicked off our "Seeing is Believing" series program at the "Unveiling Mammoth". The SMI’s Seeing is Believing series, inspired by His Majesty King Charles III, aims to allow its CEO members to engage in immersive experiences and real-world environments to gain a deeper level of understanding of the urgency and opportunity of a sustainable future. The key takeaways for guests were: -- 18 months after groundbreaking, the infrastructure of Climeworks’ latest and to-date largest direct air capture and storage plant ‘Mammoth’ has been successfully put in place, with 90% of the systems operational, including that of storage partner Carbfix. -- Climeworks is now ready to add the last part of the plant, its CO₂ collector containers, which will filter the CO₂ out of the air. The plant's first 12 CO₂ collector containers have already arrived onsite, and preparations for the first CO₂ removal are underway. Located in Iceland, Mammoth is an order of magnitude larger than Climeworks’ previous plant ‘Orca’ and, therefore, an important milestone in Climeworks’ journey to reach megaton capacity by 2030 and gigaton scale by 2050. The beauty of #Innovation is coming up with the most unlikely solutions to the challenges we face. If a traditional tree's importance to the climate is converting CO2 into O2, then something else do it without need planting. It's only a matter of diving deep into our brains.
