𝐆𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 🚌 🚘   Great news for Gothenburg! Over the next two years, The Green City Zone will receive €600,000 from the EU to help speed up the shift to a zero-emission transport system by 2030. The funding highlights the incredible power of collaboration and innovation to reach sustainability goals. “This funding will help us keep exploring new possibilities in sustainable transport. With the latest battery technology and new ideas, we can solve current problems and expand solutions to help the whole region”, says Steven Sarasini, senior researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. The Gothenburg Green City Zone initiative is led by the CITY OF GOTHENBURG through Business Region Göteborg AB, and is founded by Business Region Göteborg, Volvo Cars and RISE. It involves a full-scale test environment in central Gothenburg, where private and public actors collaborate on sustainable transport solutions and innovations. 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗟-𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗨𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗡 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: Taking a break in Gothenburg, I was captivated by its profound shift from a once-polluted port city to the world's most sustainable city according to Global Destination Sustainability Index #gds. Intrigued by this shift, I delved into the city's transformation and uncovered striking parallels with renowned teal practices in organizational management. It became evident that the principles of new work and progressive organizations extend beyond corporate meetings, effectively guiding urban planning towards greener horizons. Here are my three key insights from Gothenburg's journey: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Local governance here empowers community groups, mirroring the decentralized decision-making of Teal organizations. 𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: The city's inclusive approach makes every resident a stakeholder in sustainability efforts. 𝟯. 𝗘𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: Gothenburg's dynamic climate goals reflect an evolving purpose that drives continuous improvement. Our collaborative RE-INCITE project, led by Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH, has been selected as one of the 6 small-scale projects from 39 applicants to receive funding under the Interreg Alpine Space program! The project focuses on transforming industrial waste into valuable secondary materials, helping reduce CO₂ emissions and decrease dependence on raw resources. We are doing so by empowering clusters to support municipalities in creating and implementing circular economy (CE) value chains across the Alpine region, alongside our project partners COMET – Cluster della Metalmeccanica del FVG, Business Upper Austria - OÖ. Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH, and Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH. This strategic innovation program is pivotal, with 23 cities in Sweden committed to being climate-neutral by 2030.
